Dormakaba 80005-RH – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Dorma 80005 spindle work with a BTS series floor closer?
Yes. The Dorma 80005 interchangeable closer spindle is made for the BTS Series floor closers and is sold as a replacement part for them. It is a commercial-duty part, not a residential one.
2) Does the Dorma 80005 closer spindle come in left hand as well as right hand?
Both. The 80005 spindle is ordered by handing, left hand or right hand, and you pick the one that matches the swing of the door the BTS closer is under. Handing is not field-reversible on this part, so get it right on the order.
3) Is the Dorma 80005 spindle for center hung doors or offset pivot doors?
Center hung only. The 80005 is a center hung spindle, so it suits a door pivoting on the centerline of the frame over a BTS floor closer. An offset-hung or butt-hung opening needs a different spindle and arm arrangement.
4) How many pieces come in the Dorma 80005 spindle package?
It ships as a package of 2. Ordering one unit gets you the two-piece spindle set for a single acting center hung door, so you do not need to add a second line for the mating piece.
5) Is the Dorma 80005 spindle rated for commercial traffic?
Yes, it is a commercial door hardware part, intended for BTS Series floor closers in commercial openings rather than residential use.
