Dormakaba 2015-26D-41 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Dormakaba Simplex 2015 pushbutton trim work with my Von Duprin 99 rim device?
Yes. The Simplex 2015 exit trim lists Von Duprin 22 Rim, 22 Rim-F, 88 Rim, 88 Rim-F, 98 Rim, 98 Rim-F, 99 Rim and 99 Rim-F among its compatible devices, along with the 2227, 2227-F, 9827, 9827-F, 9847, 9847-F, 9927-F and 9947-F. It drives the device hub from outside, so the exit device itself still has to be there, it isn't supplied with the trim.
2) Can I use a Simplex 2015 pushbutton trim on a vertical rod exit device?
No. The 2015 trim cannot be used with vertical rod exit devices, with thumb-operated mortise design devices, or with surface-mounted devices that have counterclockwise rotating hubs. It works on rim and cylindrical-hub devices with non-handed or clockwise-rotating hubs only. If your opening has a pair of doors on vertical rods, this trim is the wrong part for it.
3) Is the Simplex 2015 exit trim handed, and will it work on a right hand door?
Handing matters here, but the trim adjusts rather than being ordered handed. The 2015 fits non-handed exit device hubs, and for a right hand opening the hub rotation is adjustable up to 90 degrees clockwise using the adjustable cam. What it will not do is drive a counterclockwise rotating hub, so a left hand reverse surface device with a CCW hub is out.
4) What tailpiece comes with the Simplex 2015, and what if my door is thicker?
A 2-3/4 inch (70 mm) adjustable tailpiece ships with the 2015 trim and drives the exit device from outside. For thicker doors or deeper device chassis there is a 5 inch (127 mm) tailpiece sold separately under part number 74773-000-001. Sort the tailpiece length out at the time you order, since it is what actually reaches the hub.
5) Do I need to run wiring or power for the Simplex 2015 keypad?
No power, no wiring, no batteries. The Simplex 2015 is a mechanical pushbutton lock: entry from outside is by combination on solid metal, vandal resistant pushbuttons in a heavy duty cast front housing. Free egress from inside is always available through the exit device, and a power outage changes nothing about how the opening works. That is why it gets specified on openings where pulling wire is impractical.
6) How do you change the code on a Simplex 2015, and can I have it keyed alike with my other locks?
Combination changes are gated behind a key. The 2015 uses a 6-pin tumbler cylinder, and the key gives access to change the combination, so a tenant or staff member cannot rewrite the code without it. Locks ship keyed differently by default, with keyed alike or master keyed available as an option. One ordering catch worth knowing: on key override orders, all locks on the order come keyed alike unless you call out a specific key cut or ask for them to be keyed differently.
7) What else do I have to order to finish the job with a Simplex 2015 exit trim?
The 2015 is trim only. It provides the outside pushbutton access; the exit device and the latch are not supplied, so you need a compatible rim or cylindrical-hub device on the inside of the door. Add the 5 inch tailpiece (74773-000-001) if the standard 2-3/4 inch one won't reach, and decide keying (keyed differently, keyed alike, or master keyed) on the order.
8) Does the Simplex 2015 trim fit Sargent, Precision, Corbin or Yale exit devices?
Those brands are covered, but only on specific models. Named compatible devices include Sargent 2813, 2804, 6804, 12-6804, 9804RHRB, 12-9804LHRB, 9898E and 9898K; Precision Hardware FL-D103, 810-H (RHRB only) and 103, R103, D203, H-203, 1103, D1203, H1203 in RH or LH; Corbin 21, 22, 25, 26NT, 27K, 29 and its variants, 39, 39EL, 39LLD, 390 and LA39; Russwin 365, 370, 372, 375, 377, 382, 384, 385, 388 and 572 variants; and Yale 1500 and 7000 Series. Match your exact model, not just the brand.
9) Can I put a Simplex 2015 keypad on a Detex Advantex or a Monarch exit device?
Both are on the compatible list. Detex Advantex Series 10, 20, 21, 40, 50 and 51 are covered, as are Monarch 18RBA, 18RP, 18VP, F18RBA, F18RP, F18VP and the XX and FXX RBA, RP and VP variants. American Device 6300 and 6303 Series, Dorex 8500R/8500F and 9500R/9500FR are listed too. Magno Krom is handing-specific: 500-4, 550-4, 650-4, 1500-4, 1550-4 and 1650-4 are LHR only, and 600-3 is RHR only.
10) Will one Simplex 2015 code work for everyone, or can I give each tenant their own code?
One combination. The 2015 is a single-combination mechanical lock, so everyone entering uses the same code, and changing it is a key-controlled operation with the 6-pin cylinder rather than something done from a management screen. For a fleet of doors where you want per-user codes and audit, this is not the platform; it earns its place where you want a keypad that never needs power and holds up outdoors.
