Dortronics 1100 Series - 1110 Narrow 2" Slim Line 1200lbs Door Mag Lock1100 Series

This state-of-the-art electro-magnetic locking device provides positive, instantaneous door control. Offered in models for single and pairs of out-swinging, in-swinging, sliding, and overhead doors. Filler plates, angle brackets, and other mounting adapters are available to satisfy a wide range of door and frame types and conditions. Able to be controlled and monitored individually, sequentially, or simultaneously from one or several locations, make the application of maglocks ideal in perimeter protection systems with automatic swinging and sliding door systems, and intrusion alarm systems. The well confined magnetic field of the lock allows it to be used in sensitive computer areas. With the built-in suppressor system protecting circuitry and components from noise and spikes. 1100 Series maglocks can be reliably interfaced with any electronic access control and monitoring equipment.

Features:

  • Safe Operation: 1100 Series locking devices are inherently failsafe, releasing instantly upon command or loss of power. With no moving parts to wear, stick or bind; no mechanical linkages to bend or break; and no bolt travel time or misalignment to raise concern, both unlocking and locking are always accomplished with ease and efficiency.
  • Extended Service: The rugged design and durable construction insure virtually endless actuations without fear of electrical fatigue or mechanical breakdown. This, combined with manufacturing to the most stringent quality control standards, allows Dortronics to offer a ten-year limited warranty on all electromagnetic locks.
  • NFPA Life Safety Compatible: As electromagnetic locking devices function independently of any mechanical type locks, magnetic locks will not jeopardize the door rating of an opening. These units are ideal for use with fire and hazard detection systems to provide unobstructed egress. Highly recommended for use on exit door control systems requiring code acceptable delayed releasing, per NFPA 101.
  • 1200 Pounds holding force

Dortronics 1110 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Dortronics 1110 maglock fit on an inswinging door, or is it outswing only?
Both, but the inswing application needs the TJ prefix. Ordering TJ top jamb mounting gets you a back mount housing plus a Z bracket to mount the armature on an inswinging door. Without TJ, the 1110 is set up for standard outswing surface mounting on the frame stop. For all glass doors, the 1198 armature mounting assembly is the matching adapter.
2) How much clearance do I need above the door for a 1110 mag lock?
Plan on a 2 inch high housing that is 12-1/2 inches long and 1-13/16 inches deep, with a total projection of 2-5/8 inches once the armature is accounted for. That 2 inch profile is why it gets called slim line, and it is what lets it sit on frames where a taller mag body would not clear the stop or the closer arm.
3) What is the current draw on a Dortronics 1110 and does it run on 12 or 24 volts?
Operating voltage is field selectable between 12 and 24 VDC, so one unit covers either supply without ordering a different part. The 1110 draws 290mA at 24 VDC or 580mA at 12 VDC. Size your power supply off the 12 volt figure if you might ever run the panel at 12, and multiply by door count on a multi-opening job.
4) Does a mag lock on the door affect my fire rating, and is it legal on an egress door?
Because an electromagnetic lock works independently of the mechanical lock on the opening, it does not jeopardize the door rating. The 1110 is fail-safe, so it releases the instant power drops or a release command comes in, which is what makes it workable with fire and hazard detection systems for unobstructed egress. Dortronics calls it out for exit door control systems requiring code acceptable delayed releasing per NFPA 101.
5) I need to lock a pair of doors. Do I order two 1110s or something else?
Order the Double Mag Lock type. The 1110 is offered in a single or a double configuration, the double being the 23 inch long body that covers both leaves of a pair from one header run. Two separate singles means two mounting layouts and two wire runs into the header; the double handles the pair off one unit. Note the double draws more, 580mA at 24 VDC or 1.16 amp at 12 VDC, so size the supply accordingly.
6) Can I monitor whether the door is actually closed with a Dortronics 1110?
Yes, if you order the SPDT door position switch function. That built-in switch gives your access panel or alarm system a dry contact for door position, so you get held-open and forced-door reporting without adding a separate surface or recessed contact to the frame. The Standard function has no switch. It is an order-time choice, not a field add, so specify it up front.
7) Does the Dortronics 1110 provide delayed egress, or do I need a different lock for that?
The 1110 is a fail-safe magnet that releases instantly on command or loss of power, and it is ordered either standard or with an SPDT door position switch. If the opening calls for a built-in delayed egress or early warning function rather than a plain magnet, the Alarm Controls 1200DE Series is a delayed egress magnetic lock for a single door and the DynaLock 2101 Series is a 1200 lb early warning lock at the same holding force as the 1110.
8) Will a Dortronics 1110 work with my existing card reader and access control panel?
It interfaces with any electronic access control and monitoring equipment. There is a built-in suppressor system protecting the circuitry from noise and spikes, which is the usual failure point when a mag is switched by a relay on a shared supply. Units can be controlled and monitored individually, sequentially, or simultaneously from one or several locations, so it drops into multi-door perimeter and intrusion alarm schemes.
9) What are the alternatives to a Dortronics 1110 if my door is exterior or needs delayed egress?
The 1110 is a commercial indoor-style surface mag. For a weather exposed opening, look at the Alarm Controls 1200WP weather resistant series or the Locknetics WMG weatherproof series. If the application needs delayed egress rather than straight access control release, the Alarm Controls 1200DE is a delayed egress single door mag, and the DynaLock 2101 is a 1200 lb early warning lock. For a sliding door, the Schlage 320M is a compact mortise sliding door mag.
10) My frame is an odd profile and the mag body will not sit flat. What do I do?
Filler plates, angle brackets, and other mounting adapters are offered for the 1100 Series to cover a range of door and frame types and conditions. That is the normal path on aluminum storefront, deep stops, and header conditions where the armature and the magnet will not naturally line up. For all glass doors specifically, the 1198 armature mounting assembly is the part to pair with it.
11) Does a Dortronics 1110 mag lock need batteries or its own power?
No batteries. It is a hardwired electronic device running on 12 or 24 VDC from your access control power supply, and because it is fail-safe it stays locked only while energized. If you need the door to remain secure through a power outage, a mag lock is the wrong choice and you want a fail-secure electric strike or electrified lockset instead.
12) Is the Schlage 320M a substitute for the Dortronics 1110?
They solve different openings. The 1110 is a surface mounted electromagnetic lock with a shallow 2 inch high housing, 12-1/2 inches long and 1-13/16 inches deep, mounted at the head of the frame with a top jamb option for inswing doors. The Schlage Electronics 320M is a compact mortise sliding door electromagnetic lock rated heavy duty at 1500 lbs, so it is mortised into a sliding door application rather than surface applied to a swinging opening. Choose the 320M only if the door actually slides.
13) Is it safe to use a mag lock near server rooms or sensitive electronics?
The magnetic field on the 1100 Series is well confined to the lock itself, which is why Dortronics calls it out for use in sensitive computer areas. That is a common concern on data center and MDF door retrofits, and it does not rule this device out.
