Designed for use with the 7101-P delayed egress panel, the 1107xEDR employs a microswitch actuator which senses door movement via the spring-loaded armature. The microswitch sensitivity is field adjustable to accommodate various applications. A concealed door position switch is also included and utilized to report door status for re-lock and forced door conditions to the egress panel. 1) Will the Dortronics 1107 mag lock fit a narrow aluminum storefront header?
That is what the 1107 is built for. The 1107xD housing measures 8-1/4 inches long by 2-1/4 inches high by 1-1/4 inches deep, so it mounts on the narrow 2 inch header stock typical of aluminum glass front doors where a full size mag lock will not sit. If you are mounting it with the inswing Z-bracket, the TJ1107xD housing plus angle bracket goes to 8-1/4 x 2-1/4 x 1-3/4 inches deep, so allow for the extra depth.
2) What happens to the Dortronics 1107 when the power goes out?
It releases. The 1107 is fail-safe by design, so the door unlocks instantly on command or on loss of power, which is what lets it be tied into fire and hazard detection for free egress. That also means it gives you no security at all during a power outage, so pair it with a battery backed supply if the opening has to stay locked through one.

Alternatively, two single 1107 units can be applied, one per leaf, if the header allows the 8-1/4 inch long housing at each stop.
