Dortronics 48500 Series User Programmable 2-5 Door Interlock Controller

The 48500 PLC interlock controller is a cost-effective method for operating door interlock and mantrap systems of up to five doors. The fully integrated controller is a one board solution that allows the installer complete control of all operating and configuration options without complex software.

Features:

  • Environmental or Security Applications: Suitable for air locks or security mantraps with two to five doors that are locked or unlocked. This controller has outputs for traffic lights and door alarm. It provides adjustable timed delays for a propped door, panic release and door unlock time. There are also optional AUX outputs available to control automatic door with locks.
  • Access Control Compatible: Any access control system can be used with the 48500 series controllers. The request for access input recognizes any normally open dry contact. Each door has a normally open dry contact output to mirror door status back to an access control panel or remote console.

1) Can the Dortronics 48501 interlock controller run a three-door mantrap where one of the doors stays unlocked?
Yes. The 48500 Series PLC controller handles two to five doors in any combination of locked and unlocked openings, so a three-door vestibule with one free-swinging door is a normal configuration. It is field configurable on the board itself, no software needed, so the installer sets which doors are interlocked at commissioning rather than ordering a different part.
2) Does the Dortronics 48501 come with a power supply, or do I need to feed it from my own 12/24VDC source?
The 48501 ships mounted in a NEMA enclosure with the 4204NX power supply included, a 4 amp class 2 UL 294 listed unit with fused 110VAC input and selectable 12 or 24VDC output. That supply also powers the connected maglocks, strikes and traffic lights, so a single enclosure covers the whole vestibule. 3) Will the Dortronics 48500 interlock controller work with my existing card access system?
Any access control system will drive it. The request-for-access input takes any normally open dry contact, which is what a card reader panel's relay output gives you, so there is no protocol or integration work. 6) How much wall space does the Dortronics 48501 mantrap controller enclosure need?
