Mustee 3448BT – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size opening does the Mustee 3448BT Durabase shower floor fit?
The Mustee Durabase 3448BT is a 34 x 48 inch shower floor, so it's built for a 34 by 48 inch alcove or corner opening. Frame the walls to those dimensions and set the base before the wall board goes on, the standard order of work for a shower pan.
2) Is the Mustee 3448BT a shower pan only, or does it include walls and a drain?
It's the floor alone. The 3448BT is a shower base in Mustee's Durabase line, so wall surrounds, the drain assembly, trim and the valve are separate purchases. Plan the order to include a shower drain suited to your waste line and whatever wall panels or tile system you're finishing with.
3) I'm replacing a 34x48 fiberglass shower pan in an apartment. Will this Mustee base drop into the same footprint?
Footprint-wise, yes, the Durabase 3448BT is made to the same nominal 34 x 48 inch shower size, so it lands in the same framed opening. What you still have to verify on site is the drain location in the old pan versus the new one and the height of the threshold against your existing door or curtain rod. Pull the old pan first and confirm the waste line lines up before you close the wall back up.
4) What color is Mustee 3448BT, and will it match white fixtures?
3448BT is the biscuit version, an off-white/almond-toned finish rather than true white. If the toilet and lavatory in the unit are white, biscuit will read slightly warmer next to them. For a fleet of units, pick one color and stay with it across turns.
5) Which Mustee part number do I order for the 34x48 biscuit Durabase floor?
Order Mustee 3448BT. The 34x48 size and the BT suffix for biscuit are both carried in that one number, so it's the full ordering designation for a distributor purchase order or a spec submittal.
