DynaLock 2500 Series 650 Lb. “Mini” Electromagnetic Locks

Model 2522/2522TJ2

2522 Double Outswinging Door
Double coil. Mounts to the underside of the frame header.
12 or 24 VDC/VAC field selectable.

2522TJ2 Double Inswinging Door
Double coil. Mounts to the face of the frame header.
12 or 24 VDC/VAC field selectable.

Each 2500 Series Electromagnetic Lock is comprised of 3 basic components: a Lock housing, an electromagnetic coil, and an armature. The coil and housing assembly mounts rigidly to the door frame while the armature mounts to the door in a manner that allows it to pivot slightly to compensate for door irregularities. When the door is closed and the Lock is energized the armature is magnetically bonded to the Lock face, thus securing the door without utilizing any moving parts. Single and double door models are available as well as the 2585 Series, which has a shorter housing. At only 81 /2” long, the 2585 “Bantam” Lock is perfect for installations where space is limited. All Locks are designed for ease of use, and built in the USA to last a lifetime.

Standard Features

• Holding Force - 650 lbs. holding force provides for effective traffic control. Examples include interior office doors, clean room interlocks, tool cribs, andx-ray areas
• 4 Operating Voltages - All models (except the 2585) offer 12 or 24 VDC or VAC for installation flexibility and to reduce stock.
• Low Power Consumption conserves energy, reduces operating cost, and extends battery backup time. A Totally Plated Coil and armature provides protection against corrosion
• A Totally Plated Coil and armature provides protection against corrosion
• No Residual Magnetism - The Lock releases without delay when de-energized.
• Narrow Backset - A thin Lock section (11 /4”) may mean the elimination of additional mounting brackets
• Built-In Spike Suppression protects other solid state components within the system from damage when the Lock is de-energized

Mini electromagnetic Locks, surface mounted for single and double outswing or inswing doors.

DynaLock 2522 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I run the 2522 maglock off an AC power supply?
Yes, but order it with the pre-wired rectifier bridge option for 12/24 VAC operation. That option is selectable on every configuration of the lock. On straight DC power you don't need it.
2) What monitoring and signaling options can I add to the DynaLock 2522?
Three sensing options can be specified: an anti-tamper switch, a door status switch, and the Dynastat force sensor, in any combination including all three together. There is also a bi-color LED pair (LED2) that requires the Dynastat force sensor to be ordered with it. Decide these up front, since they are built into the lock.
3) What is the difference between the DynaLock 2522 mini electromagnetic lock and the ROFU 8035 mini shear lock?
They secure the opening in two different ways. The DynaLock 2522 is a surface-mounted electromagnetic lock rated at 650 lbs. holding force, with the coil housing mounting to the underside of the frame header on a double outswinging door and the armature mounting to the door leaf. The ROFU 8035 is a mini shear lock rated at 1200 lbs. holding force, monitored, and 12/24VDC. A shear lock engages the armature edge-on rather than face-to-face, so it is the choice where the hardware needs to sit concealed in the header rather than surface mounted below it. Both the 2522 and the 8035 run on 12 or 24 volts, so either can be fed from the same access control power supply.
4) Do I have to order a 12V or a 24V version of the DynaLock 2522?
No, one part covers both. The 2522 is field selectable for 12 or 24 volts, so the installer sets it at the door rather than deciding at the order desk. That also cuts what a service truck or stockroom has to carry.
5) How much current does the DynaLock 2522 double maglock draw?
Figure 762 mA at 12V and 410 mA at 24V for the double lock (a single unit draws 381 mA at 12V, 205 mA at 24V). Size your supply and any battery backup off those numbers, and remember the double pulls the full amount because it has two coils.
6) Does a maglock like the DynaLock 2522 release instantly when power drops?
Yes. The 2522 has no residual magnetism, so the armature lets go without delay the moment it's de-energized, and there are no moving parts in the holding mechanism. It also has built-in spike suppression so the collapsing coil doesn't damage other solid-state gear on the access control circuit.
7) If I want door monitoring, do I have to go to the ROFU 8035 instead of the DynaLock 2522?
No. The ROFU 8035 mini shear lock is supplied monitored, but the DynaLock 2522 can be ordered with monitoring built in as well - an anti-tamper switch, a door status switch, and a Dynastat force sensor are each selectable options, and any combination of them can be configured on the 2522. So monitoring alone is not a reason to change platforms; the decision between the two comes down to holding force and whether the opening suits a surface-mounted magnet or a shear lock.
8) Is the DynaLock 2522 suitable for a commercial building, and how is it mounted?
It's a commercial-duty surface-mounted lock, not a residential or battery product. Nothing gets mortised into the frame, the coil housing fastens to the header and the armature to the door, which makes it a practical retrofit on existing openings where you don't want to cut the frame. It's hardwired, with no battery option.
