DynaLock 3000 Series 1500 Lb. Electro Magnetic Locks

Model 3002

3002 Double Outswinging Door
Double coil. Mounts to the underside of the frame header.
1500 Lbs. holding force per leaf

The 3000 Series is a full size 1500 lbs. holding force electromagnet. It is designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames. Specify for commercial, industrial, or institutional openings where maximum security and durability is required. All 3000 Series locks are designed for ease of installation with DynaLock’s exclusive FasTrak mounting system, field selectable voltage, and convenient wiring compartments. Optional integrated door and lock status sensors allow remote monitoring without the need to install separate “door contacts”. The 3000 Series is offered in single, double, and split armature models for both outswinging and inswinging doors. The coil and housing assembly mounts rigidly to the door frame while the armature mounts to the door in a manner that allows it to pivot slightly to compensate for door irregularities. When the door is closed and the lock is energized the armature is magnetically bonded to the lock face, thus securing the door without utilizing any moving parts.

Standard Features

• One Piece Housing made from high strength aluminum. A seamless housing means maximum resistance to weather and tampering.
• FasTrack Mounting: Speed up installation by mounting the FasTrak channel to the frame first. Lock can then be attached and removed with ease.
• Universal Design: Lock handing can easily be reversed in the field, allowing placement of the coil adjacent to the vertical jamb where it will exert the most efficient force.
• Low power consumption conserves energy, reduces operation cost, and extends battery backup time.
• A totally plated coil and armature provides protection against corrosion.
• A narrow backset of 1-1/2” may mean the elimination of other mounting brackets or filler plates.
• No residual magnetism - the door releases without delay when lock is de-energized.
• Built-in spike suppression protects other solid state components within the system from damage when the lock is de-energized.
• Lifetime Warranty - American Made in the USA by DynaLock, with over 20 years experience in the manufacture of electromagnetic locks.

DynaLock 3002 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What voltage and current does a DynaLock 3002 double mag lock need from the power supply?
The 3002 is auto-sensing multi-voltage, 12/24 VAC or VDC, so no jumper setting is needed at install. Size the supply for the double draw: 748 mA at 12VDC, or 420 mA at 24VDC. Running it at 24V roughly halves the current, which matters when you are putting several openings on one supply or sizing battery backup.
2) Is a magnetic lock like the DynaLock 3002 fail safe? What happens in a power outage?
A magnet only holds while it is energized, so the 3002 is inherently fail safe. Cut power and both leaves release. DynaLock also builds in no residual magnetism, so there is no drag or delay on release when the coil de-energizes, and built-in spike suppression protects the other solid state gear on the circuit at the moment of drop. Because it releases on power loss, it has to be tied into the building's fire alarm and egress scheme per your local code.
3) What is the difference between the DSM, HSM and VOP options on a DynaLock 3000 Series mag lock?
They are three tiers of monitoring. DSM is just the door status switch, signaling closed or ajar. HSM adds the Dynastat force sensor on top of the door status switch, so the panel can confirm a real magnetic bond and not just a closed door. VOP is the full package: door status switch, Dynastat force sensor, and an anti-tamper switch that signals if someone pulls the wiring access cover. The advantage of any of these is that you skip installing separate door contacts in the frame. If you also want the two bi-color LEDs, those require the HSM2 or VOP2 configuration.
4) How much frame depth do I need for a DynaLock 3002, and will it clear my stop?
Backset is 1-1/2 inches, which is narrow enough that you can often skip the filler plates or angle brackets other magnets need. Body depth is 1-1/2 inches and height 2-3/4 inches, so it tucks under a standard header. The FasTrak channel goes on the frame first and the lock clips on after, which also means you can pull the lock later for service without re-drilling the header.
5) Do I have to specify handing when I order the DynaLock 3002?
No. Handing on the 3000 Series is field reversible, so the installer can flip it on site to put the coil next to the vertical jamb where it pulls most efficiently. On a pair of doors that flexibility is worth having, since each leaf behaves differently. Ordering is about the monitoring options, not the hand.
6) Can I use a DynaLock 3002 on a fire rated door opening?
The 3000 Series is designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames, so a rated opening is within its intended use. It is specified for commercial, industrial, and institutional openings where maximum security and durability are the driver. How it is wired to the fire alarm and release devices is governed by your authority having jurisdiction.
7) What are the alternatives to the DynaLock 3002 for a double door magnetic lock?
Two other double-leaf options in the same holding class: the Dorma EML320 is a double door magnet at 1500 lb, listed fire rated and electrically locked (fail safe), and the Alarm Controls 1200D Series is a double magnetic lock line. If your opening is a single leaf instead of a pair, the 3002 is the wrong part, and the Dorma EML310 covers single door at 1500 lb with a door position sensor, or with bond alert added. For a lighter single opening the Schlage M420 is a 500 lb magnet.
8) Can I replace an existing Locknetics 390+ mag lock with a DynaLock 3002?
Not as a drop-in. The DynaLock 3002 is a 22 inch double coil unit that mounts to the underside of the frame header using DynaLock's FasTrak channel, with the channel fastened to the frame first and the lock attached to it. If you are replacing a Locknetics 390+ and want existing holes to line up, the Schlage Electronics M390RFK is listed as a direct retrofit for the 390+ at 1500 lbs holding force with door status monitor, magnetic bond sensor and relock time delay. Choose the 3002 when you are prepping the header fresh or moving to a double leaf opening.
9) I need delayed egress on the opening - does the DynaLock 3002 do that, or do I need a different lock?
The DynaLock 3002 ships with an adjustable relock time delay as standard and can be ordered with a door status switch, the High Security Monitor package that adds the Dynastat force sensor, or the Value Option Package that adds an anti-tamper switch - but relock delay and delayed egress are different functions. For a code-compliant delayed egress opening, the Alarm Controls 1200DE Series is a delayed egress magnetic lock built for a single door. On a pair, verify with the AHJ how the egress device is to be applied.
10) Does the DynaLock 3002 need separate door contacts, or do comparable locks include monitoring?
The DynaLock 3002 can be ordered with integrated door and lock status sensors so remote monitoring is handled without installing separate door contacts - the Door Status Switch signals door closed or ajar, the High Security Monitor adds the Dynastat force sensor for magnetic bond, and the Value Option Package adds an anti-tamper switch on the wiring access cover. Comparable monitored units include the Dorma EML310 BA DP in 628 with bond alert and door position sensor, the Dortronics 1000 Series with an SPDT door position switch, and the Locknetics MG Series, which is offered in standard or monitored form.
11) Does the DynaLock 3002 need a separate relock timer board?
No extra board required. Adjustable relock time delay, which used to be the TD option, is standard on every 3000 Series model including the 3002. So after a release you can set the dwell before the magnet re-energizes without buying anything additional.
