DynaLock 3000 Series 1500 Lb. Electro Magnetic Locks

Model 3002

3002-TJ32 Double Inswinging Door
Double coil. Mounts to the face of the frame header.
1500 Lbs. holding force per leaf.

The 3000 Series is a full size 1500 lbs. holding force electromagnet. It is designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames. Specify for commercial, industrial, or institutional openings where maximum security and durability is required. All 3000 Series locks are designed for ease of installation with DynaLock’s exclusive FasTrak mounting system, field selectable voltage, and convenient wiring compartments. Optional integrated door and lock status sensors allow remote monitoring without the need to install separate “door contacts”. The 3000 Series is offered in single, double, and split armature models for both outswinging and inswinging doors. The coil and housing assembly mounts rigidly to the door frame while the armature mounts to the door in a manner that allows it to pivot slightly to compensate for door irregularities. When the door is closed and the lock is energized the armature is magnetically bonded to the lock face, thus securing the door without utilizing any moving parts.

Standard Features

• One Piece Housing made from high strength aluminum. A seamless housing means maximum resistance to weather and tampering.
• FasTrack Mounting: Speed up installation by mounting the FasTrak channel to the frame first. Lock can then be attached and removed with ease.
• Universal Design: Lock handing can easily be reversed in the field, allowing placement of the coil adjacent to the vertical jamb where it will exert the most efficient force.
• Low power consumption conserves energy, reduces operation cost, and extends battery backup time.
• A totally plated coil and armature provides protection against corrosion.
• A narrow backset of 1-1/2” may mean the elimination of other mounting brackets or filler plates.
• No residual magnetism - the door releases without delay when lock is de-energized.
• Built-in spike suppression protects other solid state components within the system from damage when the lock is de-energized.
• Lifetime Warranty - American Made in the USA by DynaLock, with over 20 years experience in the manufacture of electromagnetic locks.

DynaLock 3002TJ32 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the DynaLock 3002-TJ32 work on a pair of doors that swing in toward me?
That is exactly what the 3002-TJ32 is built for. It is a double coil magnet for a pair of inswinging doors, mounting to the face of the frame header, and it delivers 1500 lbs of holding force per leaf. For outswinging pairs you need a different model in the 3000 Series, which is offered in single, double, and split armature versions for both swing directions.
2) What power supply do I need for a DynaLock 3002-TJ32, and what is the current draw?
It is multi-voltage auto-sensing, 12 or 24 VAC/VDC, with no jumper to set. Size the supply for the double-coil draw: 748 mA at 12VDC or 420 mA at 24VDC. Running it at 24V roughly halves the current, which matters when you are sizing battery standby for several openings on one supply.
3) Does this mag lock unlock when the fire alarm drops power?
Yes. An electromagnet holds the door only while energized, so cutting power releases it, and the 3000 Series has no residual magnetism, meaning the door releases without delay the instant the lock de-energizes. Built-in spike suppression protects the rest of the access control electronics when it drops out. Note this is not a delayed egress lock; if your code path calls for a 15-second irreversible delay, look at a delayed egress unit such as the Alarm Controls 1200DE.
4) What do the DSM, HSM and VOP options on the DynaLock 3002 actually add?
DSM is the door status switch alone, signalling closed or ajar. HSM adds the Dynastat force sensor on top of that switch, so you get confirmation of an efficient magnetic bond, not just door position. VOP bundles the door status switch, the Dynastat force sensor, and an anti-tamper switch that signals removal of the wiring access cover. The 3002-TJ32 can be ordered with any combination of the three, or with none of them, for eight configurations in total.
5) Is there a lower holding force magnetic lock if 1500 lb is more than my opening needs?
The DynaLock 3002-TJ32 is a full size 1500 lb per leaf magnet intended for maximum security commercial, industrial and institutional openings. For lighter interior doors, the Schlage M420 is a single door magnet rated 500 lb, the Dortronics 1107 is a 2 inch slim line single door lock at 600 lb, and the Locknetics MG Series is offered in 600 lb and 1200 lb models with standard or monitored options.
6) What looks like a substitute for the 3002-TJ32 but will not work on my inswinging pair of doors?
Two products in the same general family are not drop-in alternatives. The ROFU 8031-002 is a shear lock at 2200 lb holding force, which mortises into the header and works differently from the surface mounted face-of-frame 3002-TJ32. The Schlage Electronics 320M is a compact mortise magnet made for sliding doors at 1500 lb. The 3002-TJ32 is surface mounted for inswinging double doors with a 1-1/2 inch backset and field reversible handing.
7) I am replacing a Locknetics 390+ magnet - is the DynaLock 3002-TJ32 the right swap?
For a Locknetics 390+ replacement, the Schlage Electronics M390RFK is described as a direct retrofit for the Locknetics 390+, rated 1500 lbs holding force with door status monitor, magnetic bond sensor and relock time delay. The DynaLock 3002-TJ32 is a new-install double leaf magnet for inswinging pairs at 1500 lb per leaf using DynaLock's FasTrak channel, so it would be a fresh layout rather than a hole-for-hole retrofit.
8) Do I still need to install separate door contacts if I want to monitor these doors?
No, if you order the monitoring. The integrated door and lock status sensors let you monitor the opening remotely without installing separate door contacts, which saves a second wire run and a second device in the frame. Choose DSM for door position only, or HSM/VOP if the head end also wants bond confirmation.
9) Can this be used on fire rated doors, and is a relock time delay included?
The 3000 Series is designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames, and it is specified for commercial, industrial and institutional openings. Adjustable relock time delay, formerly the TD option, is standard on every model, so you do not order it separately.
10) Does handing matter when I order the 3002-TJ32?
No. The 3000 Series uses a universal design, and handing is reversed in the field so you can place the coil next to the vertical jamb where it exerts force most efficiently. You order one part number and set it on site.
11) What else could I use instead of a DynaLock 3002 on a double door?
The Dorma EML320 is the closest cross-brand match: a double door electromagnetic lock rated at 1500 lb, electrically locked (fail safe), with a fire rating. The Alarm Controls 1200D Series is another double door magnetic lock family. If the opening is actually a single leaf, the Dorma EML310 at 1500 lb with a door position sensor covers it, and the Schlage M390RFK is a 1500 lb single-door unit that is a direct retrofit for a Locknetics 390+.
12) Is a surface mag lock the right choice, or should I be looking at a shear lock?
Surface electromagnetic locks like the DynaLock 3002 sit on the face of the frame header with the armature on the door, and they are the simpler install: no mortising, no moving parts, and the armature pivots to compensate for door irregularities. A shear lock such as the ROFU 8031-002, at 2200 lb holding force, mortises into the header for a concealed look and higher force, but it demands frame prep and tighter alignment. For a sliding door the Schlage 320M compact mortise unit is the type to look at instead.
13) Does the 3002-TJ32 run on the same power supply voltage as other common mag locks?
The DynaLock 3002-TJ32 is multi-voltage auto-sensing 12/24 VAC/VDC, drawing 748 mA at 12VDC and 420 mA at 24VDC as a double. The Dortronics 1000 Series is likewise 12/24VDC field selectable, and the Locknetics MG and WMG Series and the ROFU 8512 are also 12/24VDC, so a shared access control power supply is typically workable across these.
14) What makes the install faster on a DynaLock 3000 Series mag lock?
FasTrak mounting. You fasten the FasTrak channel to the frame first, then attach the lock to the channel, and it comes off just as easily for service later. Voltage is field selectable so there is no need to know 12V or 24V before the lock ships, and the wiring compartments are built into the housing.
