DynaLock 2500 Series 650 Lb. “Mini” Electromagnetic Locks

Model 2522/2522TJ2

2522 Double Outswinging Door
Double coil. Mounts to the underside of the frame header.
12 or 24 VDC/VAC field selectable.

2522TJ2 Double Inswinging Door
Double coil. Mounts to the face of the frame header.
12 or 24 VDC/VAC field selectable.

Each 2500 Series Electromagnetic Lock is comprised of 3 basic components: a lock housing, an electromagnetic coil, and an armature. The coil and housing assembly mounts rigidly to the door frame while the armature mounts to the door in a manner that allows it to pivot slightly to compensate for door irregularities. When the door is closed and the lock is energized the armature is magnetically bonded to the lock face, thus securing the door without utilizing any moving parts. Single and double door models are available as well as the 2585 Series, which has a shorter housing. At only 81 /2” long, the 2585 “Bantam” lock is perfect for installations where space is limited. All locks are designed for ease of use, and built in the USA to last a lifetime.

Standard Features

• Holding Force - 650 lbs. holding force provides for effective traffic control. Examples include interior office doors, clean room interlocks, tool cribs, andx-ray areas
• 4 Operating Voltages - All models (except the 2585) offer 12 or 24 VDC or VAC for installation flexibility and to reduce stock.
• Low Power Consumption conserves energy, reduces operating cost, and extends battery backup time. A Totally Plated Coil and armature provides protection against corrosion
• A Totally Plated Coil and armature provides protection against corrosion
• No Residual Magnetism - The lock releases without delay when de-energized.
• Narrow Backset - A thin lock section (11 /4”) may mean the elimination of additional mounting brackets
• Built-In Spike Suppression protects other solid state components within the system from damage when the lock is de-energized

Mini electromagnetic locks, surface mounted for single and double outswing or inswing doors.
Size: 1-1/4”D x 1-3/4”H x 10-1/2”L Single or 21”L Double

DynaLock 2522TJ2 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the DynaLock 2522-TJ2 for inswing or outswing doors?
The 2522-TJ2 is the inswing configuration. It mounts to the face of the frame header so the magnet sits on the stop side of a pair of inswinging doors. If your pair swings out, you want the plain 2522 instead, which mounts to the underside of the frame header. Both are double coil units covering two leaves.
2) Does the 2522-TJ2 run on 12V or 24V, and can it take AC?
Voltage is field selectable, 12 or 24 VDC. For 12/24 VAC operation, order the version with the pre-wired rectifier bridge option, which is one of the four ordering options on the lock. Selecting voltage in the field means one part number covers both bus voltages on a mixed site.
3) What current does a double 2522 draw so I can size the power supply and battery backup?
Double coil draw is 762 mA at 12V and 410 mA at 24V. Running the pair at 24V roughly halves the current, which stretches battery standby time on the same amp-hour battery. Size your supply per door opening, not per building average.
4) What options do I need to specify when ordering the 2522-TJ2?
Four independent options, each yes or no: anti-tamper switch, door status switch, DynaStat force sensor, and the pre-wired rectifier bridge for AC operation. That gives 16 buildable combinations. The status switch reports door position back to the access control panel, the tamper switch reports if the housing is disturbed, and DynaStat senses pressure on the magnet.
5) Will the maglock stay stuck for a moment after the access control releases it?
No. The 2500 Series has no residual magnetism, so the armature drops the instant the coil is de-energized. Built-in spike suppression also protects the panel and other solid state devices on the circuit from the inductive kick at release.
6) Is this a shear lock or a surface mount maglock?
Surface mounted, not a shear lock. The coil housing fastens to the frame header and the armature to the door face, and holding relies on direct magnetic bond with no moving parts. A shear type such as the ROFU 8035 mini shear instead mortises into the header and engages a pocket in the door top, which is what you want when nothing can project below the header.
7) Will this maglock hold on a slightly warped or out of plumb door?
To a point, yes. The armature mounts so it can pivot slightly and self-align to the lock face, which compensates for normal door irregularities. Gross misalignment still needs shimming, but a door that sits a little off square will usually pull up flat against the magnet.
8) Is the 2522-TJ2 suitable for a damp or wash-down interior area?
Both the coil and the armature are totally plated for corrosion protection, which is why these turn up on clean room interlocks and similar controlled spaces. It is a commercial interior lock, so an exterior or directly wetted opening is the wrong application.
