Custom Length Housings Series’ 3500, 3600, 3700 and 3800 may be used with any full size 2000 or 3000 Series electromagnetic lock except the 3006 and 3101B Series. Custom Length Housings 3550, 3650, 3750 and 3850 are designed for use with 2511 and 2522 Mini electromagnetic locks only. Custom Length Housings provide an unbroken sight line across the header or along a vertical jamb, for a less conspicuous installation. Installation is easy, standard locks are mounted in the conventional manner, a pre-cut track is installed in line with the lock and a “U” shaped channel is attached to the track, concealing both track and lock. Both track and housing ends may be field trimmed as required on all models except the 3700 and 3750.

1) Does the DynaLock 3650 Custom Length Housing include the magnetic lock?
No. The 3650 is the housing only, and the electromagnetic lock has to be ordered separately. You get the pre-cut track and the U shaped channel that conceals the track and the lock; the mag lock itself is a separate line item.
2) What opening does the 3650 housing cover, and does handing matter?
Handing matters. The 3650 is the right hand reverse (RHR) version for a single door with one horizontal Mini lock at the header, covering a 30 inch to 48 inch run. Order the matching hand for your opening.
3) Can the DynaLock 3650 housing be cut down on site to fit my header?
Yes. On the 3650 both the track and the housing ends can be field trimmed to length. The exceptions in the Custom Length Housing line are the 3700 and 3750, which cannot be trimmed.
4) What if the door uses a full size DynaLock magnet rather than a mini?
Then the 3650 is the wrong size class. The 3550, 3650, 3750 and 3850 custom length housings are designed for the 2511 and 2522 mini electromagnetic locks only, while the 3500, 3600, 3700 and 3800 housings take any full size 2000 or 3000 Series magnet except the 3006 and 3101B. Also worth knowing before you cut: track and housing ends may be field trimmed on all models except the 3700 and 3750.
5) What is the equivalent to the DynaLock 3650 custom length housing if the maglock on the door is a Securitron Magnalock?
Use the Securitron FLH full length housing instead. The DynaLock 3650 is a custom length housing built around DynaLock's own magnet line, and its mini-size versions (3550, 3650, 3750, 3850) are intended for the 2511 and 2522 mini electromagnetic locks only. The Securitron FLH is the full length housing for the M32, M62 and M82 Magnalocks, so on a Securitron opening that is the matching cover rather than a DynaLock channel.
6) Why use a custom length housing instead of just surface mounting the mag lock?
Appearance, mostly. A bare surface mounted Mini lock leaves a short block sitting on the header. The 3650 runs an unbroken sight line across the header or down a vertical jamb and hides both the lock and its track, which is what facility and property managers want on lobby and glass front openings. The lock still mounts the conventional way underneath.
7) What are the alternatives to a DynaLock custom length housing for concealing a mag lock?
Two different approaches. Brand-matched surface mount housings sized to one lock: ROFU 21036 is a pair of surface mount housings for the 8035/-002 Mini shear lock, and ROFU 21059 is a single surface mount housing for the 8031-002 shear lock. For a full length cover on a Securitron opening, the Securitron FLH full length housing suits the M32, M62 and M82 Magnalock. Those are lock-specific, so pick by the lock already on the door.
8) What finish does the DynaLock 3650 housing come in?
628 satin aluminum (US28) is the finish, and it is the only one offered on the 3650. That is the standard clear anodized look, so it lines up with aluminum storefront framing and with the satin aluminum finish typical of Mini mag locks.
9) Does the 3650 housing need its own power or wiring?
No separate supply for the housing. It is a non-powered enclosure that carries the lock, and the lock it covers runs on 12/24 VDC. The housing takes no battery.
10) Is the DynaLock 3650 housing suitable for commercial traffic openings?
It is a commercial grade access control accessory, intended for electromagnetic lock installations on commercial doors rather than residential use.
