Custom Length Housings Series’ 3500, 3600, 3700 and 3800 may be used with any full size 2000 or 3000 Series electromagnetic lock except the 3006 and 3101B Series. Custom Length Housings 3550, 3650, 3750 and 3850 are designed for use with 2511 and 2522 Mini electromagnetic locks only. Custom Length Housings provide an unbroken sight line across the header or along a vertical jamb, for a less conspicuous installation. Installation is easy, standard locks are mounted in the conventional manner, a pre-cut track is installed in line with the lock and a “U” shaped channel is attached to the track, concealing both track and lock. Both track and housing ends may be field trimmed as required on all models except the 3700 and 3750.

1) Does the DynaLock 3850 housing include the maglocks, or do I order those separately?
Housing only. The DynaLock 3850 custom length housing covers the lock and track, and the electromagnetic lock or locks have to be ordered on a separate line. Plan on two Mini locks for this configuration since it is built for two horizontal locks across a double door opening.
2) What is the longest opening the 3850 housing will cover?
Custom length up to 96 inches, which covers a typical pair of doors in one unbroken run across the header. It is sized for two Mini locks mounted horizontally on a double door.
3) Can the 3850 housing be cut down on site if my header is shorter than the housing?
Yes. Both the track and the housing ends on the 3850 can be field trimmed. The only custom length housings that cannot be trimmed are the 3700 and 3750.
4) Will the DynaLock 3850 housing work with a full size DynaLock magnet, or do I need a different model?
The 3850 is for the 2511 and 2522 Mini electromagnetic locks only. Full size 2000 and 3000 Series magnets are covered by the 3500, 3600, 3700 and 3800 Custom Length Housings, excluding the 3006 and 3101B Series. Note also that track and housing ends may be field trimmed on all models except the 3700 and 3750, so if you need to trim on site the 3850 allows it.
5) What is the closest alternative to the DynaLock 3850 housing for concealing a full length magnetic lock run?
The Securitron M32/62/82 Magnalock Full Length Housing (FLH series) is the comparable full length housing approach. The difference is which lock it wraps: the DynaLock 3850 is a Custom Length Housing cut to 96 inches for two horizontal locks on a double door and is designed for the 2511 and 2522 Mini electromagnetic locks only, while the Securitron FLH is built for the M32, M62 and M82 Magnalocks. Pick the housing that matches the magnet family already specified for the opening.
6) Why use a custom length housing instead of just surface mounting the maglocks?

No - they look similar in name only. The Aiphone KA-DGR is a stainless steel housing for the KB-DAR video door station in the KB Series, an intercom enclosure. The DynaLock 3850 is an electromagnetic lock accessory: a 12/24 VDC access control housing in 628 satin aluminum that conceals Mini magnetic locks and their track across a double door header. They serve different systems and are not interchangeable.
