Custom Length Housings Series’ 3500, 3600, 3700 and 3800 may be used with any full size 2000 or 3000 Series electromagnetic lock except the 3006 and 3101B Series. Custom Length Housings 3550, 3650, 3750 and 3850 are designed for use with 2511 and 2522 Mini electromagnetic locks only. Custom Length Housings provide an unbroken sight line across the header or along a vertical jamb, for a less conspicuous installation. Installation is easy, standard locks are mounted in the conventional manner, a pre-cut track is installed in line with the lock and a “U” shaped channel is attached to the track, concealing both track and lock. Both track and housing ends may be field trimmed as required on all models except the 3700 and 3750.

1) Does the DynaLock 3800 custom length housing include the maglock, or do I order the lock separately?
Housing only. The 3800 is the U-shaped channel and pre-cut track that conceal the lock across the header, and the electromagnetic lock or locks have to be ordered as separate line items. Budget for two full size locks if you are doing the double door application this model is built for.
2) I have a double door opening with two horizontal maglocks. Is the 3800 the right custom length housing?
That is exactly the configuration it covers: two horizontal full size locks on a double door, with the housing running as one continuous piece up to 96 inches of custom length. A single leaf with one lock does not need this length, and Mini locks are excluded.
3) What is the closest alternative to the DynaLock 3800 custom length housing for concealing a surface magnetic lock?
The Securitron FLH is a full length housing built for the M32, M62 and M82 Magnalock, so it serves the same purpose of concealing a surface mounted magnetic lock behind an unbroken line along the header. The difference is the lock family it fits: the DynaLock 3800 is a custom length housing cut to 96 inches for two horizontal locks on a double door and works with full size 2000 and 3000 Series electromagnetic locks except the 3006 and 3101B, while the Securitron FLH is matched to the M32, M62 and M82 Magnalock. Choose the housing that matches the magnet already specified for the opening.
4) Can the housing be cut down on site if my header is shorter than the length ordered?
Yes. Both the track and the housing ends can be field trimmed on the 3800, so a slightly long piece can be cut in at the opening. Note the exception in the family: the 3700 and 3750 cannot be trimmed.
5) Why use a custom length housing instead of just surface mounting the maglocks?
Appearance and concealment. Surface mounted locks leave two visible blocks on the header; the 3800 runs an unbroken sight line the full width of the opening and hides both the locks and the track underneath. The locks still mount conventionally, so the install method does not change, you just add the track and channel over top.
6) Which DynaLock custom length housing should be used with mini electromagnetic locks rather than the 3800?
The 3800 belongs to the group of housings - 3500, 3600, 3700 and 3800 - intended for full size 2000 and 3000 Series electromagnetic locks except the 3006 and 3101B. For 2511 and 2522 Mini electromagnetic locks the matching housings are the 3550, 3650, 3750 and 3850. For a mini shear lock instead, ROFU offers the 21036 surface mount housing as a pair for the 8035/-002. Match the housing to the lock size rather than trimming a full size channel down.

The DynaLock 3800 is a custom length housing in 628 satin aluminum that conceals the pre-cut track and full size electromagnetic locks along a header. They share the word housing but serve unrelated devices.
8) Can the DynaLock 3800 housing be field trimmed, and how does that compare with a fixed surface mount housing?
Yes. On the 3800 both the pre-cut track and the housing ends may be field trimmed as required, which is how a single 96 inch channel is fitted across a double door header covering two horizontal locks. No. It is a non-powered installation accessory; the 12/24 VDC rating on the record refers to the DynaLock electromagnetic locks it covers. Wiring is run to the locks as normal, with the track and channel concealing the run along the header.
11) Is the 3800 housing suitable for commercial openings, and can it mount on a vertical jamb?
It is a commercial grade accessory, and the custom length housing line is intended to run either across the header or along a vertical jamb, so a jamb mounted horizontal lock arrangement is covered as well as a header run.
