DynaLock 4480 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thicknesses do the DynaLock 4080 filler plates come in?
Six thicknesses: 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 inch, all in the 1-1/4 x 12-3/4 inch footprint. Pick the one that closes the measured gap between the magnet and the mounting surface. Where a single plate does not get you there, stacking plates is how installers make up an odd dimension.
2) I have a mag lock that is not sitting flush with the armature. Do I need a filler plate or an angle bracket?
Depends which direction the misalignment runs. A filler plate is a flat shim, it only moves the magnet away from its mounting surface to close a gap in one plane, and the 4080 gives you 1/8 up to 3/4 inch of that adjustment. If the magnet needs to be turned or presented on a different plane, for example an inswinging door with no header depth, that is a bracket job, not a shim job. DynaLock's 4000 Series covers filler and spacer plates plus angle brackets for that reason.
3) What is the difference between the Locknetics MFP and WFP filler plates?
They are sized to different lock families: the MFP50-MFP63 plates are for the MG Series, while the WFP50-WFP63 plates are for the WMG Series. Both are 628 aluminum. The DynaLock 4080 plate serves the same purpose for the DynaLock 2280 and is offered as a 1-1/4 inch by 12-3/4 inch plate in several thicknesses.
4) Is this filler plate for commercial door work or residential?
Commercial. The 4080 plates belong to DynaLock's commercial electromagnetic locking line, so they show up on institutional and multi-family openings, stairwells and access controlled corridors rather than residential doors.
5) Is the 4080 filler plate part of the mag lock or something I order separately?
Separate. It is an accessory for the 2280 magnetic lock, not included with it, and it is ordered by thickness. On a standardization program across a building, it is worth carrying a couple of thicknesses on the truck since the gap varies opening to opening.
6) Is a filler plate the same thing as an angle bracket or armature spacer?
No. The 4080 is a flat filler and spacer plate, an installation accessory that builds out the mounting surface behind a 2280 magnetic lock so the lock body sits flush and in plane with the armature. Angle brackets change the mounting angle for inswing or glass door conditions, and armature spacers sit on the door leaf side. The Locknetics MFP and WFP plates fill the same flat-shim role for MG and WMG Series locks. Order by the gap you need to close, in the 1/8 through 3/4 inch thicknesses.
