DynaLock 6600 Series Halo-Lighted Piezo Rex PushButtons

Model 6620E Narrow, “PUSH TO EXIT” Faceplate, 10-24 VDC

DynaLock 6600 Series halo-lighted, request-to-exit (REX) push buttons incorporate a heavy duty, non-sparking, non-magnetic, corrosion resistant, anti-vandal piezoelectric switch, designed for indoor and outdoor use. Pressing the soft-touch piezoelectric switch generates a timed, dry contact relay pulse, for direct release control of an electronic locking device, or similar application. The SPDT-double-break (Form Z) output relay contacts are rated for 5 Amps @ 125VAC, with a field-adjustable pulse-time of 1-60 seconds. Additionally, a brilliant, external led ring indicator may be set to illuminate red, green or yellow and change state upon relay activation. Standard models are offered in a choice of single-gang box or narrow mullion mount, with or without “EXIT” signage and are ideal for use wherever high-use, abuse and resistance to moisture and the elements is a concern

DynaLock’s 6620/6620E is a heavy duty narrow, halo-lighted piezo REX push button. Features include
selectable illumination (green/red/no illumination), Form C relay outputs and single finger touch
activation. This illuminated switch is non-sparking, non-magnetic and corrosion resistant, making it
a perfect fit for industrial, high risk environments as well as access control systems and direct door
control.

DynaLock 6620E – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do I need to order a back box with the DynaLock 6620E, or can it mount into the mullion?
The 6620E is ordered either with or without a narrow surface back box. If you can cut into the mullion and run wire behind it, take the button alone. If the mullion or wall can't be cut, or you're surface mounting on a glass front frame, order it with the narrow surface back box so the switch body has somewhere to sit. That choice is made at order time, so decide before you place it.
2) Is the DynaLock 6620E an emergency release button?
No. The 6620E is a standard request-to-exit button marked PUSH TO EXIT, for normal egress and access control release. If the code official or the drawing calls for an emergency release device, you want a dedicated emergency unit such as the Securitron EEB Emergency Exit Push Button or the ACSI 1320-1-MOM-ER, which is marked Emergency Release. Those are different devices with different signage and shouldn't be substituted for each other.
3) Can the 6620E switch a maglock directly, or does it have to go through an access control panel?
It can do either. The button generates a timed dry contact relay pulse for direct release control of an electronic locking device, so you can wire it inline to drop a maglock without a panel. The output is an SPDT double-break (Form Z) relay rated 5 amps at 125VAC with both N.C. and N.O. contacts, so it also drops straight into a panel input as a REX signal.
4) How long does the DynaLock 6620E hold the door released after someone presses it?
The relay pulse time is field adjustable from 1 to 60 seconds, set at the button itself. That covers a quick egress release at the low end and an ADA-style extended hold for a slower occupant at the high end, without adding a separate timer module to the circuit.
5) Can I use a DynaLock 6620E exit button outside or in a wash-down area?
Yes. The piezoelectric switch is rated water and dust proof to IP65, the circuit board assembly is encapsulated, the housing is corrosion resistant and the whole unit is chemical solvent repellent. DynaLock states it for indoor and outdoor use, which is why it turns up in parking structures, loading docks and industrial areas where a mechanical plunger button would corrode or stick.
6) What is the closest equivalent to the DynaLock 6620E if I need another illuminated halo push button?
The Securitron PB4L is the nearest match in concept - it is an illuminated halo push button with a stainless button. The DynaLock 6620E is a narrow "PUSH TO EXIT" faceplate halo-lighted piezoelectric REX button running on 10-24VDC in brushed stainless steel US32D, with a selectable red, green or yellow light ring that changes state on relay activation. Choose based on whether you need the piezo switch and the narrow mullion-width faceplate, or a conventional round illuminated button.
7) I have a narrow aluminum mullion - what else besides the DynaLock 6620E fits that width?
The Trine 342 is also a narrow style electric door switch and is intended for the same slim mullion or stile application. The DynaLock 6620E uses a narrow faceplate as well and adds a halo-lighted piezoelectric switch, IP65 water and dust protection and a field-adjustable 1-60 second pulse. If the opening does not need illumination or weather resistance, the narrow Trine switch covers the same mounting width.
8) What should I use instead of the DynaLock 6620E for an emergency release station rather than a normal request to exit?
For an emergency release, look at the Securitron EEB emergency exit push button with interchangeable LED lenses, or the ACSI 1320-1-MOM-ER pushbutton switch marked "Emergency Release." The DynaLock 6620E carries "PUSH TO EXIT" signage and is built as a request-to-exit device for routine egress, so it is not the right faceplate legend for a life-safety release point.
9) Is the DynaLock 6620E the right button for an ADA barrier-free door operator actuator?
No - for an accessible actuator you want a push plate marked with the handicap symbol, such as the RCI 950 Series round push plate with handicap symbol and momentary switch in satin stainless steel. The DynaLock 6620E is a narrow single-finger piezo button with "PUSH TO EXIT" signage, which is release control for an electronic locking device rather than an operator actuator.
10) Do I need a latching switch instead of the DynaLock 6620E if the door has to stay unlocked?
Yes. The 6620E generates a timed dry contact relay pulse with a field-adjustable 1-60 second pulse time, so it releases and then restores. For a state that holds until someone changes it, use a maintained-operation device such as the RCI 908 Series electronic exit button with red EXIT text and maintained operation, or the RCI 919 Series rotary release button with maintained operation in satin aluminum.
11) What else could I use instead of the DynaLock 6620E narrow exit button?
For another narrow style switch sized to a mullion, Trine's 342 Narrow Style Electric Door Switch is the direct format equivalent. If you want another illuminated halo button in stainless, Securitron's PB4L Series is the closest in concept. Where the opening needs a large round plate instead of a narrow strip, the Securitron PB5 medium round illuminated button or the RCI 950 Series round push plate with handicap symbol are the ones to look at, and the RCI 950 is the choice when the button doubles as an accessible actuator.
12) What color does the light ring on the DynaLock 6620E show, and can I change it?
The external LED halo ring is selectable for red, green, yellow, or no illumination, and it changes state when the relay activates. So you can run it green at rest and have it flip on press, or run it red to show the door is secure. That's set at install, not at order, so one part number covers whatever convention your site uses.
13) Why choose a piezo exit button over a standard mechanical push button?
A piezo switch has no moving contacts to wear out or stick, and it takes a single finger touch rather than a mechanical throw. DynaLock's is non-sparking and non-magnetic, which matters in hazardous or high risk industrial areas where a spark at a contact is unacceptable, and it's anti-vandal for high-abuse public openings. A mechanical button like the RCI 909 Series rocker or the RCI 919 Series rotary release is the simpler, cheaper approach for a dry interior office corridor where abuse and moisture aren't a concern.
14) What is a simpler alternative to the DynaLock 6620E if I do not need illumination?
The Securitron PB3 Series push buttons are a non-illuminated option, and the RCI 909 Series flush mount momentary rocker switch is a flush rocker rated 250VAC 10A in a beige finish. The DynaLock 6620E adds a selectable red, green or yellow light ring status indicator and a piezoelectric, non-sparking, non-magnetic switch element - features that matter where you need visual status or a sealed, vandal-resistant actuator.
15) Can I use a keyswitch in place of the DynaLock 6620E?
Only if you want release restricted to key holders. The ACSI 1310-1 is a mortise keyswitch, so egress requires a key rather than a touch. The DynaLock 6620E is a free-touch REX button with "PUSH TO EXIT" signage that anyone can operate, which is what most egress paths require. A keyswitch is an authorization device, not a request-to-exit device.
16) How does the DynaLock 6620E compare to the Securitron PB5 for a round single-gang opening?
The Securitron PB5 is a medium round illuminated push button, so it suits a round cutout or a standard plate opening. The DynaLock 6620E on the narrow faceplate is sized for mullion-width mounting; DynaLock offers the 6600 Series in single-gang box or narrow mullion mount, with or without "EXIT" signage. Pick by the opening you are cutting into and whether the "PUSH TO EXIT" legend is required.
17) For a wet or corrosive exterior door, which button holds up better than a standard exit switch?
The DynaLock 6620E is built for that condition - the piezoelectric switch is corrosion resistant, chemical solvent repellent, vandal resistant and meets IP65 for water and dust, with an encapsulated circuit board, and it is rated heavy duty for commercial use. Conventional alternatives such as the RCI 909 Series flush mount momentary rocker or the Securitron PB3 Series push buttons are mechanical switch designs better suited to protected interior locations.
18) What finish does the DynaLock 6620E faceplate come in?
Brushed stainless steel, US32D. That's the standard satin stainless most commercial door hardware is specified in, so it'll match satin stainless push plates, pulls and strike trim already on the opening.
19) Is the DynaLock 6620E rated for heavy traffic in a commercial building?
It's classified heavy duty and commercial, and the switch itself is a piezo element with no mechanical contact wear, which is what carries it through high-use openings. DynaLock positions the 6600 Series for wherever high use, abuse and moisture exposure are a concern, so apartment lobbies, school corridors and industrial plant doors are the intended territory.
