1) What size enclosure does the B-Line AW3024GP panel fit?
The AW3024GP flanged panel is made for 30 x 24 inch enclosures. The panel itself measures 27 x 21 inches, which is the usable mounting area once it sits inside the box. If your enclosure is a different nominal size, this panel will not line up with the mounting studs.
2) Is the AW3024GP back panel rated for outdoor or washdown enclosures?
No. The AW3024GP is a NEMA 1 panel, which is indoor, general purpose protection against incidental contact and falling dirt. It is not a wet location or washdown part. For an outdoor or hosedown enclosure you want a panel matched to a NEMA 3R, 4 or 4X box instead.
3) What is the B-Line AW3024GP made of and how is it finished?
Galvanized steel with a white powder coated finish. The white face is what electricians want inside a control enclosure, it makes wire runs and component labels easy to read under a work light.
4) What is a flanged back panel used for in a control enclosure?
It is the mounting substrate, not part of the enclosure shell. Components such as DIN rail, terminal blocks, contactors and drives bolt to the panel, and the panel then mounts inside the box on the enclosure's collar studs. The flange on the AW3024GP stands the mounting surface off the enclosure back wall, giving wire clearance behind the panel. It provides no environmental protection on its own, the NEMA 1 enclosure does that.
5) Do I order the panel separately from the enclosure?
Yes, back panels are sold on their own. The AW3024GP covers the panel only, so the 30 x 24 enclosure, any mounting hardware kit, and DIN rail or wireway you plan to lay out on the panel are separate line items.
