B-LINE 2236 GGV – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size trough is the B-Line 2236 GGV wireway, and how long is a stick?
It's a 2-1/2 by 2-1/2 inch cross section, 36 inches long. That's the small end of the lay-in/screw-cover wireway range, sized for short gutter runs between panels, troughs above a bank of disconnects, or pull space where a 4x4 gutter would be overkill. Bare weight is 6.408 lb, so one person can set it.
2) Can I use this B-Line wireway outdoors or in a washdown area?
No. The 2236 GGV is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor, dry-location only. It gives protection against incidental contact with the enclosed wiring and falling dirt, not water. For outdoor, damp, or washdown runs you need a NEMA 3R or 4 gasketed wireway instead.
3) How does this B-Line wireway mount to a wall or backboard?
Through holes in the back of the trough. You fasten it directly to the wall, backboard, or strut with your own hardware, which is not supplied. Mounting screws, anchors, and any connectors, end plates, elbows, or hanger brackets for the run are ordered separately.
4) Is the cover on the 2236 GGV a hinged lay-in or does it screw down?
It screws down. The cover is secured with plated screws along its length, so you pull the whole cover off to lay conductors in and reinstall it after. If you're pulling and re-pulling frequently, a hinged-cover wireway saves time; for a fixed gutter that gets opened rarely, the screw cover is the standard choice.
5) How many knockouts does this 36 inch wireway have and where are they?
Eleven knockouts on the top face and eleven on the bottom face of the 2236 GGV. That's a knockout roughly every few inches down a 36 inch stick, which is what lets you drop conduit into a row of devices without drilling the trough in the field.
6) What is the B-Line 2236 GGV made of and will it rust in a damp basement?
Body is 16 gauge galvanized steel finished gray, with plated screws on the cover. The galvanized coating handles normal indoor humidity, but it's still a NEMA 1 trough with no gasket, so standing moisture or direct dripping will eventually find it. Keep it in dry indoor locations.
7) Is this wireway approved for use in Canada?
The 2236 GGV is CSA Certified, so it's accepted for Canadian installations as well as US work. Worth noting on submittals for cross-border or Canadian institutional jobs where the AHJ wants CSA marking on the enclosure.
