B-LINE 4460-12FW – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Eaton B-Line 4460-12FW wireway rated for washdown or oily environments?
The 4460-12FW is a NEMA 12 wireway with a seamless poured-in-place gasket, so it is built to keep out dust, falling dirt, and dripping non-corrosive liquids indoors. It is not a NEMA 4 or 4X enclosure, so direct hosedown, outdoor exposure, or corrosive washdown areas call for a different rating.
2) What size and length is the 4460-12FW B-Line wireway?
It is a 4 x 4 inch cross section, 60 inches long. That is the standard 5-foot straight section used to run conductors between panels or gutters, and the 4 by 4 body is what determines your allowable conductor fill.
3) Does this B-Line wireway have a removable cover or a hinged one?
Hinged. The cover on the 4460-12FW swings on heavy-duty hinges and is held shut with screw clamps, so it stays attached when you open it up to pull or land conductors. If your install needs a fully removable screw cover for overhead access, a hinged section is the wrong choice.
4) How is a 4x4 hinged wireway like this supported on the wall or ceiling?
It is set up for wireway hanger mounting, so the 60 inch section is carried on hangers rather than bolted flat to a surface. Hangers, connectors, elbows, and end plates are separate items and need to be ordered to complete a run.
5) Is this wireway CSA certified for a job in Canada?
The 4460-12FW carries CSA C22.2 certification, which is the Canadian Electrical Code product standard series inspectors look for on enclosures and wireway.
6) What gauge steel is the Eaton B-Line 12FW wireway and what color does it come in?
14 gauge steel, finished in ANSI 61 gray. That is the standard gray used on most industrial panelboards and control enclosures, so a run of it will match existing gear in a typical plant or mechanical room.
