B-LINE 88 FL IN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line 88 FL IN elbow fit my 8 x 8 wireway run?
Yes, if your trough is 8 by 8 inches. The 88 FL IN is built with an 8 inch by 8 inch inside opening, matching 8 x 8 lay-in wireway on both legs of the 90 degree turn. It will not mate to a 4 x 4 or 6 x 6 trough; those need an elbow sized to that opening.
2) Is the 88 FL IN a lay-in elbow or do I have to pull conductors through it?
It's a lay-in fitting. The cover comes off so conductors drop straight into the 90 degree turn and the cover goes back on, which is the whole point of using wireway instead of conduit on a feeder run. No fishing or pulling around the corner.
3) Can this B-Line wireway elbow be used outdoors or in a washdown area?
No. It's a NEMA 1 enclosure rating, which is general purpose indoor only, protecting against incidental contact and falling dirt. It is not rain, dust, or washdown rated. For outdoor or wet locations you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated wireway elbow instead.
4) Is this an inside or outside 90 degree elbow, and does it matter which one I order?
It matters. This one is the inside opening 90, meaning the turn is made on the inside corner of the run. If your wireway has to wrap the outside of a corner or column, an outside elbow is the correct part. Ordering the wrong hand means the trough legs won't line up with your mounted runs.
5) How much clearance do I need to turn a corner with this 8 x 8 elbow?
Allow for the overall footprint, not just the 8 inch opening. The fitting measures 8 in height, 8 in length/depth, and 12.306 in width, so the leg extends past the nominal trough size at the corner. Check that against wall offsets, pipe racks, or ceiling structure before you set the adjoining wireway sections.
6) What is the B-Line 88 FL IN elbow made of and how is it finished?
Steel, painted ANSI 61 gray. That's the standard gray used across electrical gear, so it matches typical panelboards, troughs, and enclosures in an industrial or commercial electrical room without touch-up.
