It is built to the NEMA 12 wiring trough construction, which is the indoor rating for keeping falling dirt, dust, and dripping non-corrosive liquids out. The cover seals with a seamless poured in-place gasket and clamps down with screw clamps on heavy-duty hinges. It is not a wet-location or washdown enclosure, so for outdoor or hosedown areas you want a 4 or 4X rated trough instead.

It has welded external mounting feet on the body, so it hangs directly on a wall or strut without drilling the trough and breaking the gasket seal. The feet are outside the wiring space, which keeps the full 4 by 4 interior clear for conductors.

Hinged. The cover stays attached to the body and swings open, which matters when you are working overhead on a ladder and do not want to juggle a loose lid and its screws. It is held shut with screw clamps, so you still get a clamped seal once it is closed. If your install needs a fully removable screw cover, this is not that version.

14 gauge steel, finished in gray. That is the heavier end of what gets used for a 4 inch trough, and combined with the welded feet it takes bumps and cable pulls in a mechanical room or plant floor without deforming.

It is certified to CSA C22.2, so it meets the Canadian standard for this class of enclosure. Useful if you are specifying hardware for a plant in Canada or working to a drawing that calls out CSA certification.

The 12WT is a seamless poured in-place gasketed NEMA 12 trough, which means the body arrives without factory openings so the gasket integrity is not compromised. You lay out and punch conduit entries where your run needs them, then seal to maintain the NEMA 12 rating.
