1) Can the B-Line 6660 GRT wiring trough be used outdoors?
The 6660 GRT is a NEMA 3R trough, so it is rated for outdoor use against falling rain and sleet, not for washdown or hosedown areas. The screw cover seals by flange plus plated screws, which is why the 3R rating holds once it is closed up properly. Steel body in ANSI 61 gray.
2) What size is the B-Line 6660 GRT wiring trough inside, and how many conductors will it take?
It is a 6 x 6 inch cross section, 60 inches long. Wireway fill under the NEC is limited to 20 percent of the cross-sectional area, so the 36 square inch nominal section gives you roughly 7 square inches of conductor area to work with before derating rules kick in.
3) How do you mount a 6660 GRT trough to a wall or strut?
Mounting is through embossed thru holes in the back of the trough, so it lands flat on a wall, plywood backboard, or strut run without you drilling the enclosure and compromising the 3R rating. Fasteners are not part of the trough, so pick them for your substrate. At 26.094 lb empty before conductors, plan supports accordingly.
4) Does the 6660 GRT come with knockouts, or do I have to punch my own?
There are 19 knockouts in the bottom of the trough, so bottom-feed conduit runs are ready to go. Any other entry point in the 16 gauge steel you punch yourself, and on an outdoor 3R installation you would want those hub-sealed.
5) Is the cover on the B-Line 6660 GRT hinged or screw-on?
Screw cover, not hinged. The cover is retained by a flange and plated screws along the length, which means access takes a driver and both hands, but it holds the 3R seal and resists tampering. If you are pulling and repulling wire often, a hinged-cover trough is the easier choice.
6) Is the B-Line 6660 GRT trough approved for Canadian jobs?
It is CSA Certified, so it can be specified on Canadian work as well as US installations.
7) What gauge steel is the 6660 GRT wiring trough, and will it match existing gray gear?
