2) Will a threadless grounding bushing work on conduit that has no threads cut on the end?
That is exactly what it is for. The GLS bushing is threadless, so it clamps onto the outside of rigid or IMC conduit instead of screwing onto a cut thread. Useful on a field cut where you do not want to pull out a threader, or on an existing run where the thread is damaged. If your conduit end is already threaded and you want the bushing to screw on, you need a threaded grounding bushing instead.
3) Is the Crouse-Hinds GLS grounding bushing rated for hazardous or classified locations?
No. The GLS bushing is for ordinary, non-hazardous locations. If you are terminating conduit in a Class I or Class II classified area, a paint booth, a fuel room, or a grain handling space, this is the wrong fitting and you need hardware listed for that classification.
4) Does this Crouse-Hinds bushing protect the conductors where they enter the box?
Yes. It is an insulated bushing, so the throat carries an insulating liner that keeps conductor insulation off the raw conduit edge as the wires turn into the enclosure. 105 degrees C. That covers 90 degree C conductors like THHN with margin, which is what matters in a hot mechanical room, a rooftop run, or a switchgear pull section where ambient plus conductor heat adds up. Below that rating and an insulated bushing is the part that limits your termination temperature.
6) Can I land a copper bonding jumper in the aluminum lug on this grounding bushing?
The lug on the GLS bushing is aluminum. Aluminum lugs on grounding bushings are normally listed AL9CU for either copper or aluminum conductors, but confirm the AL9CU marking stamped on the lug itself before you land copper, and use the antioxidant the lug's own instructions call for. The body of the fitting is malleable iron, so the lug is the only current path you are torquing against.
7) Do I need a grounding bushing on a conduit run that already has a green wire in it?
Often, yes. The bushing bonds the metal raceway itself to the enclosure, which is a separate job from the equipment grounding conductor inside the pipe. It is the usual answer where a raceway lands on a concentric or eccentric knockout, on a ringed knockout that breaks the bonding path, and on service equipment terminations.
