1) Is the Hammond EJ884 enclosure rated for outdoor or washdown use?
The EJ884 Eclipse Jr. carries Type 4, Type 3R, Type 12 and Type 13 ratings, plus an IP66 rating, so it handles rain, splashing water and hose-directed water as well as dust, dirt and dripping oil or coolant. That covers outdoor wall mounting and washdown areas in plants. It is not a hazardous-location or submersible box.
2) What are the EJ884 enclosure dimensions and will a 7 x 7 inch backplate fit?
The EJ884 measures 8 inches high, 8 inches wide and 4 inches deep, so interior usable space is less than those outside figures. You do not need to source a plate separately, a mounting panel is included with the enclosure.
