Emtek 1115-FB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Emtek 1115 trim include the multi point mortise lock, or is it just the plates and handles?
Trim only. The Emtek 1115 set ships as plates and handles for a swinging patio door, and the multi point mortise lock box is not included. Since this is the Dummy pair, there is no latching or locking function at all: the handles are fixed on both sides for a non-operating or inactive leaf. If you need an operating multi point door, you have to source the lock body separately.
2) Will Emtek 1115 dummy trim fit a 1-3/4 inch patio door without routing the door?
Yes. It covers 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch door thickness and mounts on the surface, so no door prep or routing is required. There is also a door thickness field on the order so you can note the actual measured thickness of your slab.
3) What does Door Configuration #1 mean on Emtek multi point trim?
Emtek groups its multi point trim by door configuration, and the 1115 is Config #1 with the cylinder position below the handle, sized for an American cylinder. On a dummy pair there is no cylinder to install, but the plate is cast to the Config #1 layout so it matches the keyed and operating trims on the other leaves of the same opening.
4) What do I have to specify when ordering the Emtek 1115 Sandcast Bronze trim?
Three things. Finish, in Flat Black Bronze, Medium Bronze, or Tumbled White Bronze. Lever style, chosen from Aurora, Bryce, Cimarron, Cody, Durango, Lariat, Mariposa, Montrose, Teton, or Yuma. And handing, right or left. Door thickness is an optional note field.
5) Will the plate cover the old handle holes on my patio door?
The arched plate measures 1-1/2 x 11 inches with handle centers 3-5/8 inches apart. If your existing multi point trim shares that 3-5/8 inch center-to-center, the plate lands over the same holes. A wider or narrower plate footprint will leave old prep exposed, so compare both the plate size and the spacing before you pull the old trim.
6) Why do I have to pick a handing on a dummy handle set?
Handing is a required choice, right hand or left hand, because the arched plate and lever are cast to orient one way. Order the handing to match the door the dummy trim is going on, not the active leaf beside it.
7) Is the Emtek 1115 suitable for a commercial entrance or an apartment building?
Emtek lists this trim as residential. It's sandcast bronze patio door hardware from the Sandcast Bronze collection, styled for a rustic residential look, and the dummy version has no locking function. For a commercial opening with traffic and code requirements, use a graded commercial lockset instead.
8) Can I key this Emtek dummy trim to match my other doors?
No. The 1115 dummy pair is non-keyed and has no cylinder, so there is nothing to key. Keying happens on the operating trim and the multi point lock body for that leaf; the dummy side is decorative only.
9) Is this Emtek trim solid bronze or plated?
Bronze through the substrate, not a plated finish over another metal, and cast rather than stamped. Because sandcast bronze finishes are living finishes, order all the leaves of one opening together in the same finish code so the plates age together.
