Emtek 15B5 Multi Point Lock Trim (Door Config #5) - Brass Plates, Modern Style (2" x 10"), Dummy Pair

Trim only. The 15B5 set is plates and handles for a swinging patio door; the multi point mortise lock box is not included and has to come from the door manufacturer or be ordered separately. If your patio door already has a working multi point lock in the stile and you only want new handles and plates, this is the right part. If the lock body itself is broken, trim will not fix it.

It will not lock anything. The 15B5 is a dummy function set, meaning the levers are fixed and there is no keyed cylinder and no operating mechanism behind the plates. It is used on the inactive leaf of a French or patio door pair, or on a panel that is bolted or held by a flush bolt, purely to match the look of the active door. If you need the handle to retract latches and throw the multi point hooks, you need an active trim, not the dummy.

The deciding number is the center-to-center spacing: 3-5/8 inches between the handle spindle and the cylinder opening, with the cylinder position below the handle. That is Emtek's Door Configuration #5. Measure your existing plate from the spindle hole to the cylinder hole. If it is not 3-5/8 inches, or your cylinder sits above the handle, you need a different configuration number, not this one.

Emtek references this configuration against Crestline, Hoppe, Hurd, KFV, Kolbe & Kolbe, Lincoln, Loewen, Paddock Lockmaster, Peachtree, Semco, Sierra, Oknoplast, Pacific, Signature, Simpson, Therma-Tru, Vetter, Willmar, Windsor and Weathershield doors. Those manufacturers built more than one prep, so confirm your door with the 3-5/8 inch center-to-center measurement and a euro profile cylinder sitting below the handle before you order.

Yes, right hand or left hand is required at order. Even though the dummy levers do not operate, the plate and lever are built handed, so a left hand set on a right hand door puts the lever pointing the wrong way. Stand outside the door: if the hinges are on your right, it is right hand.

The lever is chosen at order and it is required. Emtek offers it with any of its brass levers, from the Modern L-Square, T-Bar and R-Bar bars in Faceted, Hammered, Knurled, Tribeca, Straight Knurled and White Marble, through the Athena, Helios, Hermes, Luzern, Poseidon and Stuttgart shapes, to traditional patterns like Cortina, Milano, Merrimack, Turino, Coventry, Rope, Rustic, Santa Fe, Wembley, Arts and Crafts and Hammered. That lets you match the patio door to the passage levers already in the house.

Residential. Emtek classifies this multi point trim for residential use, and it is dummy function with no lock mechanism, so it is not a part for a commercial opening or a code-governed entry. For a multi-family or hospitality patio door you want an active, keyed set specified for the application.

No key and no cylinder with it. The plate is cut for a euro profile cylinder below the handle so it matches the active leaf next to it visually, but the dummy set has no keyed function. If you want the opening keyed, the cylinder and the operating trim both live on the active door.

The Modern style plates measure 2 x 10 inches and are solid brass, plate and substrate both. Brass matters here on an exterior patio door, and it is also why the finish list runs across the Emtek brass collection rather than the tubular steel options.

Seven finishes: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel Lifetime (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) and Satin Brass (US4). Unlacquered brass is the one to know about, it is left bare and will patina over time, so it will not stay matched to a lacquered piece next to it.

It is mechanical only, with no electronic option and no wiring provision. As a dummy trim there is nothing to motorize. Smart access on a swinging patio door has to be handled at the active leaf's lock, not at the fixed panel.
