1) Does the Emtek 1811 multi point trim include the multi point lock body, or do I need to order that separately?
Trim only. The 1811 set covers the plates, the handles and the cylinder. The multi point mortise lock box is a separate order, so if you are replacing hardware on a swinging patio door you need to already have a working lock body in the door or buy one alongside this. That also means the lock body in the door dictates the gear, not this trim.
2) What does Door Configuration #8 mean on Emtek multi point trim, and how do I know my door takes it?
Configuration #8 describes where the holes are in the door and how far apart they sit. On the 1811 the handle hub and the cylinder hub are 5-1/4 inches center to center, with the cylinder ABOVE the handle. If your existing door prep has the keyhole below the lever, or the spacing measures anything other than 5-1/4 inches, this is the wrong configuration and the plates will not line up. Measure hub center to cylinder center on the door before ordering.
3) Will the Emtek 1811 trim key alike with my existing Schlage or Weiser keys?
Yes, in the sense that matters: the American cylinder ships in either a Schlage keyway (the standard choice) or a Weiser WR5 keyway. Pick the one your existing house keys use and the trim can be keyed to match. Keying is set at order time, keyed different or keyed alike, and you can supply an existing key code to have it cut to your current key. It is single cylinder, so keyed outside and thumbturn or lever operation inside.
4) Does the Emtek 1811 come with levers, or do I pick those separately?
The lever is a required selection, not an extra. Ten sandcast bronze levers fit the 1811 plates: Aurora, Bryce, Cimarron, Cody, Durango, Lariat, Mariposa, Montrose, Teton and Yuma. All of them are in the same Sandcast Bronze collection as the plates, so the finish matches across the set.
5) What size are the Emtek 1811 arched plates, and will they cover the marks left by my old patio door hardware?
The plates measure 1-1/2 by 11 inches in the arched profile. That is a narrow plate, so it covers a vertical scar down the stile but not a wide escutcheon footprint. If the previous hardware was a broad plate, expect finish witness marks on either side of the new trim.
6) Is Emtek 1811 multi point trim rated for a commercial entrance or an apartment building corridor?
Residential. The 1811 is swinging patio door hardware for a home or a residential unit entry. For a commercial opening or anything on an egress path, go to a Grade 1 mortise or cylindrical lock instead; this is trim for a residential multi point system and carries no commercial duty rating.
7) My multi point patio door levers sag. Does the Emtek 1811 fix that?
Yes. Every 1811 multi point trim now ships with the Spring Assist function, which returns the lever to neutral and stops the droop you get on a long multi point handle after a few years of use. If your current sagging lever is on a Configuration #8 door with 5-1/4 inch hub spacing and the cylinder above the handle, this trim is a direct swap for it.

9) What finishes does the Emtek sandcast bronze 1811 multi point trim come in?
Three: Flat Black Bronze (FB), Medium Bronze (MB) and Tumbled White Bronze (TWB). All three are available with either the Schlage or Weiser WR5 keyway. These are sandcast bronze, a solid bronze casting rather than a plated finish, so the surface wears into the metal rather than off it, which is why they are specified on exterior patio openings.
10) Do I need to give the door thickness when ordering Emtek 1811 multi point trim?
Door thickness is an optional entry on the order, and it is worth filling in. The cylinder tailpiece and the spindle have to reach through the door to the multi point lock body, so a thicker than usual patio door slab changes what length is needed. If your door is a standard slab you can leave it blank.
11) Is the Emtek 1811 an electronic or keypad lock?
