Configuration #8 on the Emtek 1854 is the non-keyed setup with a fixed (dummy) handle on the outside and an operating handle on the inside, intended for the semi-active leaf of a pair of swinging patio doors. The exterior handle does not retract anything; you operate the lock from inside only. If you need the leaf that gets used daily and locked with a key, #8 is the wrong configuration.
3) Will this trim line up with my existing multi point lock hole prep?
The plates measure 1-1/2 by 11 inches and the center-to-center spacing is 5-1/4 inches, with the cylinder position above the handle. Measure between the fastener/spindle centers on your current trim: if it is not 5-1/4 inches, this plate will not drop onto the existing prep. Since the 1854 is non-keyed, no cylinder is used even though the plate geometry follows the above-handle layout.
