1) Will Emtek 1L1R21 trim fit a G-U multi point lock?
G-U is the reference multi point gear the 1L1R21 trim is built to, and the handle hub to cylinder spacing is 3-5/8 inches center-to-center with the cylinder hole ABOVE the lever. Measure your existing door: if the gearbox spindle and cylinder holes are 3-5/8 inches apart and the keyhole sits above the handle, this trim lines up. If the cylinder falls below the handle on your door, this is the wrong configuration.
2) Can I key the Emtek 1L1R21 to match my Schlage or Kwikset house keys?
The cylinder is an American style mortise cylinder and ships in either a Schlage keyway or a Weiser WR5 keyway. WR5 is the Kwikset/Weiser family keyway, so pick that side if the rest of the house runs Kwikset keys. Keyed alike and keyed different are both offered at no charge, and there is a key code field on the order so an existing bitting can be matched.
3) Do I need to specify handing when ordering Emtek multi point trim?
Yes, and it is required on the order. Left hand and right hand are both built, and multi point trim is not field reversible the way a bored lock is. Stand outside the door: if the hinges are on your left it is left hand, hinges on the right is right hand.
4) Is the Emtek 1L1R21 single cylinder or double cylinder?
Single cylinder. Key on the outside, thumbturn side on the interior, which is what most residential patio openings want and what avoids the egress problem a double cylinder creates on a door next to glass.
5) Can I pick my own lever style on the Emtek 1L1R21 trim set?

6) My patio door lever droops. Does new Emtek multi point trim fix a sagging handle?
It does. Every Emtek multi point trim set now ships with a spring assist that returns the lever to horizontal and stops the sag, which is the usual failure on an older swinging patio door where the gearbox spring has given up. The gearbox itself is not part of this set, so if the multi point rods are also not throwing, that is a separate lock body problem.
7) Should I use multi point trim or a standard entry handleset on a swinging patio door?
Different jobs. This trim drives a multi point gearbox, which throws latches at the head and sill as well as the middle, and it is what a swinging patio or French door needs to stay flat against weatherstripping. A standard bored or mortise handleset only latches at one point and will not engage the top and bottom rods. If your door has only a single latch prep, you want a regular entry set, not multi point trim.

All are from Emtek's brass collection and the plates are solid brass, so they sit alongside the rest of the Emtek brass line rather than a plated zinc part that will read slightly off.
9) Is the Emtek 1L1R21 rated for commercial use?
Emtek lists it as residential hardware. For a multi-family or commercial opening that sees real traffic, a residential multi point trim set is the wrong specification and a commercial grade mortise or exit device is the right direction.
