Emtek 2422-FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What finishes does the Emtek 2422 Sandcast Bronze doorbell button come in?
Three sandcast bronze finishes: Flat Black Bronze (FB), Medium Bronze (MB), and Tumbled White Bronze (TWB). Order them as 2422FB, 2422MB, and 2422TWB. If you are matching entry hardware already on the house, pick the finish code off that existing Emtek piece and order the same suffix here.
2) Does the Emtek 2422 doorbell come with a lighted button, or do I add that separately?
The lighted button is included. The 2422 ships as the #2 sandcast bronze rosette plate plus the lighted push button, with matching screws in the box. The screws are not sold on their own, so don't lose them during rough-in.
3) Is the Emtek 2422 a wireless doorbell or does it need to be wired to an existing chime?
It is a wired push button with a lighted element, so it needs low-voltage doorbell wiring and a transformer and chime already at the opening. It is a replacement button and plate, not a complete wireless kit, and no chime unit is included.
4) What is the difference between the Emtek 2421, 2422, 2423, 2424 and 2425 doorbells?
They are the same sandcast bronze lighted doorbell with different rosette shapes. 2421 uses the Sandcast Bronze #1 rosette, 2422 the #2, 2423 the #3, 2424 the #4, and 2425 the #6. Choose the number that matches the rosette style on your existing Emtek sandcast bronze knobs, levers, or handleset so the front entry reads as one set.
5) Is the Emtek 2422 doorbell rated for commercial use, like an apartment building entry?
Emtek classifies the 2422 as residential. It is a decorative sandcast bronze entry accessory intended for single-family and residential front doors. For a multi-family or commercial entry that sees constant traffic and vandalism exposure, look at a commercial-duty button instead.
6) I have Emtek Tuscany or Wrought Steel hardware, not Sandcast Bronze. Is there a matching doorbell?
Yes, Emtek runs the same doorbell across its collections. Tuscany lost wax cast bronze uses 2411, 2412, 2414 and 2415 depending on rosette. Wrought Steel uses 2431, 2432 and 2433. The 2422 is specifically the Sandcast Bronze #2 rosette version, so it is the wrong one to order if your other trim is Tuscany or Wrought Steel.
7) I want a longer vertical doorbell plate instead of a small rosette. What does Emtek offer?
Emtek's STRETTO plates are the long-format option: 2440 is a 1-1/2 x 5 inch plate and 2441 is a 1-1/2 x 11 inch plate. The 2422 by contrast is a compact #2 sandcast bronze rosette. If you need coverage over an old, larger cutout in the casing, the STRETTO plate is the one that hides it.
8) Is the Emtek 2422 doorbell plate solid bronze or plated brass?
It is sandcast bronze. Emtek lists both the material and the substrate as bronze for the 2422, which is why the Flat Black, Medium and Tumbled White finishes are living finishes that shift with handling and weather rather than staying uniform like a plated surface.
9) Will the Emtek 2422 sandcast bronze doorbell look right on a contemporary house?
Emtek positions the sandcast bronze line as rustic, with a hand-cast, irregular surface. For a clean modern entry, the contemporary rosette versions are the better match: 2457 Modern, 2458 Disk, 2459 Square, 2460 Neos, 2463 Modern Rectangular, or 2465 Urban Modern.
