Emtek 5044 STRETTO Narrow Trim Lockset, 1-1/2" x 11" Rectangular Keyed, Brass Tubular, Dummy (Pair)

It's a dummy set, so there is no latch, no bolt and no key. The 5044 STRETTO is fixed trim that mounts to the face of the door and gives you something to pull on, which is what you want on a closet door, a false door leaf, or the inactive half of a pair. If the opening needs to latch, you need a passage set instead, and if it needs to lock you need a privacy or keyed entry version of the trim.

No boring needed. The 5044 dummy mounts on the surface of the door, so there is no 2-1/8 inch cross bore and no edge prep to cut. That makes it the easy choice on a slab that's already hung or on a door too thin or too narrow to take a standard bored prep.

The rectangular STRETTO plate measures 1-1/2 x 11 inches, and the design is built around narrow 1-1/4 inch door preps with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center hole spacing. That's why it works on French doors, glass-lite doors and other narrow-stile leaves where a full rosette or a wide escutcheon would run off the edge of the stile.

Handing is a required choice on the 5044, right hand or left hand. It matters because a lever has to point toward the hinge side to look and feel right, and on a dummy the trim is fixed so you can't flip it in the field. Knobs are symmetrical, but the selection is still required, so pick the hand that matches the door swing. Stand outside the door: if the hinges are on your right, it's right hand.

Any Emtek brass knob or lever, and the trim style is a required selection. Levers include Aurora, Bryce, Cimarron, Cody, Durango, Lariat, Mariposa, Montrose, Teton and Yuma. Knobs include Butte, Egg, Round, Winchester, Bristol, Hampton, Lowell, Windsor, Astoria, Diamond, Georgetown, Modern Disc, Modern Square, Old Town and Providence. That lets you carry one knob or lever design across an entire house while using the narrow STRETTO plate only where the stile demands it.

It ships as a pair, so you get trim for both faces of the door. That's the normal way a dummy is used on a set of double closet or pantry doors, or on a single door where you want matching trim inside and out. You still select one knob or lever style, one finish and one handing for the pair.

Emtek lists the 5044 as residential. It's a tubular-type brass trim set built for homes and light residential use, so for an office corridor, a school or anything on a code-required egress or fire door, go to a Grade 1 or Grade 2 commercial lockset instead. Multi-family unit interiors, closets and pantries are within its intended use.

Three: Flat Black (FB), Medium Bronze (MB) and Tumbled White Bronze (TWB). All three are on solid brass trim, so the finish is applied over brass rather than plated steel, and the same finish codes carry across other Emtek brass-collection trim if you're matching hinges, hooks or entry sets on the same job.
