1) Can I use the Emtek 6241 to replace a standard round-rosette bath lock without new door prep?
Not directly. Standard cylindrical bath sets bore a single 2-1/8 inch cross bore; the 6241 narrow plate needs the 3-3/8 inch center-to-center two-hole pattern and a 1-1/4 inch door prep. On a door already bored for a round rosette you would be adding the second hole, and the 2 x 10-1/2 inch plate has to cover the existing prep. Easiest on new doors or doors already prepped for narrow trim.
2) Do I have to specify handing on this Emtek narrow trim privacy set?
Yes, handing is a required selection, right hand or left hand. It matters for the lever designs in particular, since a lever has to point the correct way. Get the handing wrong on a lever and the part is unusable on that door.
3) Which backset does the Emtek 6241 come with, and can it work in a 2-3/4 inch prep?
Both. The latch is adjustable and you specify either 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches on the order. 2-3/8 is the standard residential prep; 2-3/4 shows up on thicker or commercial-style doors, so measure from the door edge to the center of the cross bore before you choose.
4) Is the Emtek 6241 a keyed lock or just a bathroom privacy latch?
Privacy only, non-keyed. It is a bed and bath function: thumbturn inside, emergency release outside, no cylinder and no key. If you need a keyed entry on the same narrow plate, this is not the model.

It ships as a complete set including the latch and strike plate, supplied with a 28 degree latch. You still choose the interior knob or lever design and the latch faceplate style (round or square corner) when ordering.
