Note the latch itself still takes a 2-1/8" cross bore, so the door needs that bore plus the two 3-3/8" spaced through-holes for the trim. If your door is already bored for a standard 2-3/4" round rose, this narrow plate won't cover it.

No. It's a passage function, non-keyed, with no privacy button and no cylinder. Both sides turn freely at all times and the latch just holds the door shut. Use it on closets, hallways, pantries, and rooms that never need to be secured. For a bedroom or bath you want the privacy version instead, and for an exterior or lockable door you need a keyed narrow trim set.

Handing is required at order, right hand or left hand. It matters because of the lever: a lever has to point toward the latch edge with the return facing the door. Stand outside the door (the side it swings away from), and if the hinges are on your right it's right hand. Get it backwards and the lever sits upside down. If you spec a knob instead, the plate still ships handed, so give the hand either way.
