Metallics JEB5SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thread size and length is the Metallics JEB5SS eye bolt?
The JEB5SS is a 1/4-20 threaded eye bolt with a 4 inch shank length, and each bolt comes with a matching nut. The 1/4-20 thread means a 1/4 inch diameter with 20 threads per inch, so it mates with standard 1/4-20 nuts and tapped holes.
2) Is the JEB5SS eye bolt stainless steel, and can it be used outdoors or in damp locations?
Stainless steel, which is why it gets specified for exterior runs, damp mechanical rooms, and wash-down areas where a plain or zinc-plated eye bolt would rust at the thread and the eye. The JEB5SS is a Metallics electrical fastener commonly used for hanging and guy-wire anchoring work.
3) How many eye bolts come in a jar of Metallics JEB5SS?
Each jar holds 100 eye bolts with nuts, packaged in Metallics' jar pack. If you only need a handful for one opening or one hanger, be aware you are buying a 100-piece contractor quantity, not loose pieces.
4) Does the JEB5SS eye bolt include a nut, or do I have to order nuts separately?
Nuts are included. The JEB5SS ships as eye bolt and nut together, so for a through-bolted application you only need to add a washer if your material calls for one.
5) How thick a material can a 4 inch eye bolt be used through?
The JEB5SS has a 4 inch threaded shank, so the maximum material thickness you can through-bolt is 4 inches minus whatever you need left for the nut and any washers. For thicker assemblies you need a longer shank than this one offers.
