1) Will the Hager 45PD dummy pull trim work with a concealed vertical rod exit device?
No. The 45PD is for Hager 4500 Series Rim, SVR (surface vertical rod), LBR (less bottom rod) and CLB devices. It is specifically not for use with CVR concealed vertical rod devices. If your opening has a CVR device, you need the trim Hager specifies for that configuration instead.
2) What does a dummy pull trim on an exit device actually do?
The 45PD is function 02: a pull only, with no latch retraction of its own. It gives you a grip on the outside of the door for when the exit device is dogged down, so the door pulls open freely. When the device is not dogged, the door stays secure and the pull does nothing. If you need outside entry with a key, you want a keyed lever or thumbpiece trim, not a dummy pull.
3) Is the Hager 45PD trim ADA compliant and rated for high traffic?
It is ADA compliant and BHMA Grade 1, the top commercial grade, which is why it holds up on school, hospital, and office entries. Construction is zinc, stainless steel, and aluminum.
