Houzer 190-9567 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Houzer 190-9567 fit a standard 3-1/2 inch kitchen sink drain opening?
Yes. The Houzer 190-9567 is built for standard 3-1/2 inch drain openings in kitchen or bar sinks, which is the common US sink drain size. It drops into the opening and lifts back out for cleaning.
2) Does the Houzer 190-9567 meet plumbing code standards?
It meets ASME 100.19.3-2000 and UPC standards. That covers the jurisdictions that inspect to the Uniform Plumbing Code, which matters on permitted institutional and multi-family work.
3) What material is the Houzer 190-9567 strainer made of, and will it hold up in a rental kitchen?
Plastic, not metal. Houzer states it withstands repeated use without chipping or fading, so the finish holds up to routine cleaning cycles. For property managers filling turnover kitchens, it's a drop-in part with no tools and nothing to corrode, though if you want a metal body for heavy commercial traffic this is not that part.
4) What are the actual dimensions of the Houzer 190-9567 basket strainer?
Measures 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 3 inches overall. The 3-1/2 inch figure in the name is the drain opening it seats in, not the body size, so check your opening diameter rather than the overall dimensions when matching it.
5) What color is the Houzer 190-9567 and which Houzer sinks does it match?
It comes in Matte Granite Bone. Houzer designs this flange to complement its Quartztone granite, Porcela porcelain enamel steel, and fireclay sink lines, so if you're standardizing across a multi-unit build with Houzer sinks, match the bone tone to the sink body.
6) Is the Houzer 190-9567 a basket strainer or a garbage disposal flange?
Houzer describes the 190-9567 both ways: it is catalogued as a basket strainer and the product copy calls it a 3-1/2 inch disposal flange. Functionally it seats in the 3-1/2 inch drain opening, catches debris, and lets water through unrestricted. If your spec calls for a disposal-side flange in that opening size, this is the part.
7) Do I need any tools or extra parts to install the Houzer 190-9567?
No tools. You insert it into the drain opening for a secure fit and pull it out when you want to clean it. Nothing to thread, no gasket kit to buy separately.
