Houzer CHO-1800-1 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Houzer CHO-1800 undermount lavatory sink come with mounting hardware and a template?
Mounting clips and hardware ship with the sink, and a cutout template is included along with installation instructions. Houzer also publishes an undermount installation instruction sheet for the series. You still supply your own silicone or adhesive for bedding the rim to the underside of the counter.
2) Is an overflow drain assembly included with the Houzer Opus CHO-1800, or do I buy it separately?
The overflow assembly ships with the sink, Houzer part OD-10. The drain is positioned at the rear of the bowl, which usually gives you a bit more clearance in the cabinet for storage behind the trap. Tailpiece, P-trap and supplies are not part of the package.
3) Can I mount the Houzer Opus CHO-1800 in a granite or quartz vanity top?
It is built as an undermount, so it is made to hang below a solid surface top, granite, quartz or similar, where the counter fabricator cuts and polishes the oval opening. It is not a drop-in and has no finished deck rim, so it will not sit on a laminate top.
4) How much usable basin do you actually get in the Houzer Opus CHO-1800 oval sink?
Inside the bowl you get 15-1/2 by 11-3/8 inches with a 6 inch depth. It is a single basin oval, so the 6 inch depth runs the full bowl rather than tapering off at a shallow front lip.
5) Is the Houzer CHO-1800 rated as a lavatory sink, and is it certified for code work?
It is specified for lavatory use, not as a kitchen or bar bowl, and it carries IAPMO certification. It is manufactured in Vietnam. For a spec submittal, Houzer publishes a CHO-1800 spec sheet with the full dimensional detail.
6) Is the Houzer Opus CHO-1800 loud when water runs, like a metal sink can be?
A sound-absorbing pad is bonded to the underside of the bowl to cut the clatter and drumming you get from bare stainless. Rounded interior corners also make the bowl easier to wipe down, which matters on a housekeeping rotation.
7) What finish does the Houzer CHO-1800 Opus sink come in?
One finish only, satin stainless steel, ordered as CHO-1800-1. The satin brush hides water spotting better than a mirror polish and touches up with a non-abrasive stainless cleaner.
