1) Does the Houzer Opus CHTO-1800 come with a drain, or do I need to buy one separately?
The overflow drain assembly (OD-10) ships with the sink, along with mounting clips and installation instructions. What is not included is the P-trap, supply lines, or the faucet, since the Opus is a drop-in bowl with no faucet deck of its own. Faucet mounts in the countertop.
2) Can I drop the Houzer CHTO-1800 into an existing oval sink cutout?
Only if the cutout is smaller than the 17-3/4 x 13-9/16 inch rim footprint and matches the oval profile. The Opus mounts topmount with clips from below, so the rim has to land on solid deck all the way around the opening. Pull the old bowl, measure the actual opening, and check it against the cutout template on the CHTO-1800 spec sheet before committing.
3) Is the Houzer Opus CHTO-1800 a bathroom sink or a kitchen bar sink?
It is a lavatory sink, single bowl, oval, installed topmount in a bathroom vanity deck. The bowl is 15-1/2 x 11-3/8 inches and 6 inches deep, which is lavatory depth rather than kitchen prep depth. Some of the Houzer copy references kitchen and bar use, but the installation location on the spec is lavatory.
4) Is 18 gauge stainless durable enough for a hotel or multi-family bathroom sink?
The Opus bowl is 18 gauge T-304 stainless, the chrome-nickel grade used for corrosion resistance in wet commercial settings, and it carries a sound-absorbing pad on the underside. Stainless will not chip or craze the way a vitreous china lav does when a guest drops something in it, which is the usual failure in high-turnover restrooms.
