1) Will the Houzer G-100 granite composite sink fit a 30 inch sink base cabinet?
A 30 inch base is the minimum for the G-100. The sink measures 23-5/8 x 20 x 7-7/8 inches overall, so it drops into a standard 30 inch cabinet with room for the rim and the cutout. Anything narrower than 30 inches won't take it, and on a 30 inch base you have very little slack for an out-of-square cutout, so lay it out carefully.
2) How many faucet holes does the Houzer G-100 have, and can I add a soap dispenser or air switch?
One hole comes pre-drilled and four more are pre-scored. The pre-scored holes knock out from underneath, so you open only what the job needs: a single-hole faucet uses the drilled hole as-is, and a deck-mount sprayer, soap dispenser, air switch for a disposer, or filtered water tap each take one of the scored positions. Up to five openings total. Decide the layout before the sink goes in, because scoring is one way.
3) What size drain does the Houzer G-100 take, and is a strainer included?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches, the standard US kitchen size, so it accepts a standard 3-1/2 inch basket strainer or a garbage disposal flange without an adapter. A strainer is not part of the sink itself. Houzer lists basket strainer 190-9180 and bottom grid 629803 as the matching accessories, and mounting hardware for the sink is in the box.
4) Is the G-100 a drop-in sink or an undermount, and can it go into an existing laminate countertop?
Topmount, also called drop-in. The rim sits on top of the counter and carries the sink's weight, which is what makes it workable on laminate or post-form tops where an undermount is not an option. Granite composite is heavy, so support the bowl during setting. Houzer supplies mounting hardware and installation instructions with the sink.
5) Where is the drain located on the Houzer G-100, and does that leave room for storage under the sink?
Rear drain. The tailpiece and trap sit at the back wall of the cabinet instead of the middle, which frees the space directly under the bowl for a pull-out or a trash unit and keeps the P-trap out of the way of a disposal. It also means dishes stacked in the bowl don't sit on the drain.
6) What colors does the Houzer G-100 Quartztone sink come in?
Seven matte granite composite colors: Cloud, Linen, Midnite, Mocha, Sand, Taupe and Thunder. The color runs through the material rather than sitting on the surface, and Houzer states it is UV stable and won't fade. For a multi-unit or spec job where you need the same color across several kitchens, order by the suffixed part number (G-100-MIDNITE, for example) so the color is locked in.
7) Is granite composite durable enough for a rental or a commercial breakroom?
The Quartztone material is 80 percent natural quartz, pore free, and heat resistant to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, with resistance to scratching, chipping, impact and staining. Pore free matters in a rental or shared kitchen: there is nowhere for staining or bacteria to sit, and the matte surface hides water spotting better than a polished stainless bowl. Add the bottom grid (629803) if the sink is going to see heavy pot traffic.
8) Single bowl or double bowl for a 30 inch cabinet?
The G-100 is a single bowl, and in a 30 inch base that is usually the right call: splitting 20-7/8 inches of interior length into two bowls leaves neither one big enough for a roasting pan or a sheet tray. Go double only if you specifically want a separate rinse side and mostly wash small items. For one deep bowl that takes oversized cookware, the single is the better use of a narrow cabinet.
