1) Are both bowls on the Houzer NOD-4200 the same size?
Yes, it is a true 50/50 split. Left and right bowls both measure 14 x 16 x 9 inches, so neither side is a prep bowl. If you want one large wash bowl and a smaller side, look at a 60/40 configuration instead.
2) Will a standard garbage disposal fit the drain openings on this Houzer double bowl sink?
The drain openings are 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard size disposals and standard kitchen strainers are built for. Drains are center-positioned in each bowl, so the disposal body hangs in the middle of the cabinet rather than against a side wall.
3) What comes in the box with the Houzer NOD-4200, and what still has to be bought?
It ships with a basket strainer (190-9180), two bottom grids (BG-6300), mounting clips, a cutout template and instructions. You still need a faucet, the disposal or tailpiece and trap assembly, silicone sealant and whatever countertop fabrication the install calls for. A Houzer CB-4100 cutting board is an optional add-on.
4) Is 18 gauge heavy enough for a rental or commercial kitchen sink?
The NOD-4200 is 18 gauge T-304 stainless, which is the heavier of the two common residential gauges (20 and 22 gauge sinks dent and drum far more readily). Combined with the StoneGuard undercoating over a Super Silencer pad, it holds up in high-turnover multi-family and hospitality kitchens where a thinner bowl would telegraph every dropped pot.
5) Can the Houzer NOD-4200 be undermounted to a laminate or wood countertop?
Undermount sinks need a rigid, waterproof substrate at the cutout edge, which in practice means stone, quartz, or solid surface. The NOD-4200 comes with clips and a template for that kind of install. For laminate or butcher block, specify a top-mount (drop-in) sink instead.
6) Will the satin finish on this Houzer sink match other stainless appliances in the kitchen?
The Nouvelle NOD-4200 is supplied in a lustrous satin stainless finish with a highlighted rim, which is the same brushed-satin look used on most stainless appliance fronts. It is the only finish this sink is made in, so every unit you order across a building will match.
