1) What size cabinet do I need for the Houzer PTG-4300 33 inch farmhouse sink?
Plan on a 36 inch sink base minimum for the PTG-4300. The sink itself measures 33 x 20 x 10-1/8 inches overall, so a 33 inch base will not take it. On an apron front the cabinet face also has to be cut down so the apron sits proud of the cabinet run, which is why the next size up is the floor here, not a suggestion.
2) Is the Houzer PTG-4300 fireclay sink deep enough for sheet pans and stock pots?
The bowl runs 31-5/16 x 18-1/4 inches with a 9-1/4 inch working depth, so a half sheet pan (13 x 18) lays down flat and a large stock pot clears the faucet on most setups. Overall depth is 10-1/8 inches, the difference being the fireclay wall thickness at the bottom. It is a single bowl, no divider, so the full 31-5/16 inch length is usable.
3) Will my existing garbage disposal and drain fit the Houzer PTG-4300?
The drain opening is the standard 3-1/2 inch kitchen size and sits dead center in the bowl, so any standard 3-1/2 inch disposal flange or basket strainer mounts to it. Center drain placement means the tailpiece drops straight down rather than offset to the back of the cabinet, which eats some under-sink storage but keeps the trap alignment simple.
4) Does the Houzer PTG-4300 farmhouse sink come with mounting hardware or a template?
No mounting hardware ships with the PTG-4300. A fireclay apron front of this weight sits on a supporting ledger or plywood cradle built into the sink base, sized by the installer to bring the rim to the right height against the countertop, so there is no universal clip kit to include. Installation instructions are supplied in the carton.
5) Can I drop the Houzer PTG-4300 into a countertop cutout that already has a farmhouse sink?
It depends on the sink coming out, and the number to check is the 33 inch overall length by 20 inch front to back. If the old sink is also a 33 inch apron in a 36 inch base, the cutout and the cabinet notch usually carry over. Anything narrower and the apron cutout in the cabinet face will be too small; anything wider and you have a gap to close. Depth is the other one to measure, 10-1/8 inches overall, because the support ledger height is set to the old sink and a different depth puts your rim at the wrong elevation under the counter.
6) What is the difference between the PTG-4300 sink only and the version with the strainer and grid?
Two ways to order the Platus PTG-4300: sink only, or the -C configuration that adds the 190-9180 basket strainer and the BG-7200 bottom grid in the box. If you are running a disposal you will supply your own disposal flange anyway, so sink only can make sense. If it is a straight drain, the -C bundle covers the strainer and protects the fireclay bottom from pot scuffing. Both are the same sink.
7) What colors does the Houzer Platus PTG-4300 come in?
Five finishes across the Platus PTG-4300: gloss white, matte white, gloss biscuit, matte gray and matte black. Each is available either as sink only or bundled with the basket strainer and bottom grid. For a multi-unit job where you are matching openings across apartments, matte white and gloss white are distinct finishes, not the same sink photographed differently, so specify the suffix (MWH versus WH) when you reorder.
8) Is fireclay a good choice for a rental or high-traffic kitchen sink?
Fireclay is a ceramic body fired over 20 hours at 2200 degrees F, leaving a non-porous surface that resists stains, discoloration, chips and scratches. For turns and tenant abuse that matters more than it does in an owner-occupied kitchen: nothing soaks in, so it cleans back to white. The tradeoff against stainless is that fireclay is heavy and rigid, so the cabinet support has to be built right and a dropped cast iron pan is harder on it than on steel. The included bottom grid on the -C version is the usual mitigation.
9) Does the Houzer PTG-4300 sink carry a plumbing code listing for a commercial job?
