1) What are the actual bowl dimensions on the Houzer PTS-4118 farmhouse sink, and will a full-size baking sheet fit?
The PTS-4118 Platus has a single bowl measuring 28-11/16 inches long by 16-1/2 inches wide, with a 9-1/4 inch interior depth. An 18 x 26 inch full sheet pan won't lay flat, but a half sheet pan (13 x 18) fits easily, and the depth handles stock pots and roasting pans without splashing over the apron.
2) Does the Houzer PTS-4118 come with mounting brackets or clips, or does the installer have to build support?
No mounting hardware ships with this sink. Fireclay apron front sinks of this size are carried on a cradle or ledger frame built into the base cabinet, not on clips, so the installer or cabinet shop needs to provide the support platform. Budget for that on the labor side, along with a helper for the set, since fireclay is heavy.
3) What drain and disposal will fit the Houzer PTS-4118, and is the drain centered?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches and sits at the center of the bowl. That's the standard US kitchen sink opening, so any standard 3-1/2 inch basket strainer or a garbage disposal mounting flange will fit. Center drain placement means the trap lands in the middle of the cabinet rather than at the back, so plan the P-trap and disposal clearance accordingly.
4) What is the difference between the Houzer PTS-4118 sink-only version and the one with the strainer and grid?
Two build-outs are offered. Sink only is PTS-4118-WH in gloss white or PTS-4118-BQ in gloss biscuit. The complete version adds a -C suffix, PTS-4118-WH-C or PTS-4118-BQ-C, and includes the 190-9180 basket strainer plus the BG-7118 bottom grid. If you're installing a disposal on the single bowl, the strainer in the -C kit becomes redundant, so sink-only is often the cleaner order.
5) Is fireclay the right choice for a rental or high-traffic kitchen, or should I use stainless?
Fireclay is a good fit where appearance has to hold up over years of tenants. The PTS-4118 is fired for over 20 hours at 2200 degrees F, giving a non-porous surface that resists staining, discoloration and scratching, and rounded small-radius corners that wipe clean. Stainless dents and shows water spots but tolerates a dropped cast iron pan better. The tradeoff with fireclay is weight and the cabinet support it demands, since no mounting hardware is supplied.
6) What colors does the Houzer Platus PTS-4118 fireclay farmhouse sink come in?
Gloss white and gloss biscuit, and both are available either as sink only or bundled with the basket strainer and bottom grid. For a multi-unit or spec job where units get finished in batches, white is the neutral match to most cabinet and quartz packages, while biscuit reads warmer against cream and off-white cabinetry.
7) Is the Houzer PTS-4118 a single bowl or a divided bowl?
Single bowl, rectangular, with no center divider. That gives you the full 28-11/16 inch interior width for washing sheet pans, racks and large pots. If the crew or homeowner wants to separate washing and rinsing, a divided farmhouse bowl is the different product to look at instead.
