1) What size cabinet do I need for the Houzer PTD-6040 farmhouse sink?
You need a 36 inch sink base minimum. The PTD-6040 measures 33 x 20 x 10-1/16 inches overall, so it will not drop into a 33 inch cabinet, the apron and the rails need the extra width. On a remodel where the existing base is 30 or 33 inches, plan on swapping the cabinet, not the sink.
2) Is the PTD-6040 an even 50/50 double bowl or are the bowls different sizes?
It's a 60/40 split with the small bowl on the right. The left bowl interior is 18-9/16 x 18-3/16 x 9-1/4 inches and the right is 12-3/8 x 18-3/16 x 9-1/4 inches. Both are the same 9-1/4 inch depth, so a sheet pan or a stock pot goes in the left and the right side stays free for a disposal side or dish stacking. If you want the small bowl on the left, this is not the configuration, every version of the PTD-6040 is built small-right.
3) Will a standard kitchen drain and garbage disposal fit this Houzer fireclay sink?
The drain openings are 3-1/2 inches and centered in each bowl, which is the standard US kitchen size, so a standard basket strainer, a disposal flange, or a garbage disposal mounting assembly all fit without an adapter. Center drain placement means the tailpieces come straight down the middle of the cabinet rather than to the back, so allow for that when you lay out the trap arm and any water filter or RO gear under the base.
4) Does the Houzer PTD-6040 come with mounting hardware or a support system?
No mounting hardware ships with the sink. Fireclay apron sinks of this weight sit on a built support deck or ledger inside the cabinet that the installer frames, so budget the plywood or steel cradle and the cabinet modification as part of the job. Installation instructions are included in the box.
5) Do I get the strainer and bottom grids with the PTD-6040, or do I order those separately?
Depends which version you pick. The PTD-6040 is sold two ways: sink only, or the -C combo that adds the basket strainer (190-9180) and both bottom grids (BG-8740 and BG-8760, sized for the large and small bowls). If you're specifying for a rental or a spec home and want the basin protected from day one, take the combo, the grids are what keep cast iron and stainless off the fireclay glaze.
6) I'm replacing a 33 inch farmhouse sink, will the Houzer PTD-6040 drop into the same opening?
Length matches at 33 inches, with a 20 inch front to back dimension and a 10-1/16 inch exterior depth. That said, apron sinks are not interchangeable the way drop-ins are, the apron height, the reveal at the countertop, and the depth of the cradle vary by manufacturer, so measure the existing sink's apron face and overall depth against those numbers before you pull the old one out. If the numbers match and the base is 36 inches, the swap is a support-deck adjustment rather than a cabinet rebuild.
7) Fireclay or stainless for an apron front sink in a rental property?

8) How deep are the bowls on the PTD-6040 and will a big roasting pan fit?
Bowl depth is 9-1/4 inches on both sides, with a 10-1/16 inch exterior depth. The large left bowl gives you an 18-9/16 by 18-3/16 inch footprint at that depth, which takes a full size roasting pan or a sheet pan laid flat. The right bowl at 12-3/8 inches across is a rinse and disposal side, not a soaking side.
9) Does the PTD-6040 have faucet holes drilled in it?
No deck holes. Platus apron front sinks are undrilled, so the faucet mounts to the countertop or the wall behind the sink.
