Houzer PTG-4318-WH – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the PTG-4318 fireclay sink come with mounting hardware or clips?
No mounting hardware ships with the PTG-4318. A fireclay apron sink is carried by the cabinet, not by clips, so the installer builds a plywood or framed support platform under it and sets the sink on that. Installation instructions are provided with the sink.
2) Will a standard garbage disposal fit the Houzer Platus PTG-4318?
Yes. The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches and sits in the center of the bowl, which is the standard US kitchen opening that disposals and standard basket strainers mount to. Center drain placement also means the tailpiece drops straight down the middle of the cabinet rather than to one side.
3) Does the PTG-4318 include a bottom grid and strainer, or do I order those separately?
Both ways are offered. The PTG-4318-WH-C and PTG-4318-BQ-C ship with the 190-9180 basket strainer and the BG-7218 bottom grid included. The plain PTG-4318-WH and PTG-4318-BQ are sink only, so budget for a strainer with that one. If you are installing a disposal, the sink-only part number is usually the sensible buy since the disposal brings its own flange.
4) What is the actual usable bowl size on the Houzer PTG-4318?
The single bowl measures 31-1/2 by 16-1/2 inches with a 9-1/4 inch interior depth, out of a 33 by 18 inch overall footprint. That is enough length to lay a full sheet pan or a large stockpot flat, and the depth is what makes it practical for soaking oversized cookware.
5) Is fireclay a good choice for a rental or high-traffic kitchen compared to stainless?
Fireclay holds up well where staining and scratching are the complaint. The PTG-4318 is 100 percent fireclay fired over 20 hours at 2200 degrees F, giving a non-porous glazed surface that resists discoloration, stains and scratches, with rounded small-radius corners that wipe clean. The tradeoff versus stainless is weight and rigidity: it is a rigid ceramic body, so the cabinet support has to be built properly and dropped cast iron cookware is the real risk, not daily wear.
6) Does the PTG-4318 have a faucet hole, or does the faucet mount in the countertop?
There is no deck on this sink to drill. The Platus PTG-4318 is an apron front farmhouse design, so the faucet mounts through the countertop behind the sink or on the wall. That is what gives you the flexibility to run a single hole pull-down, a bridge faucet, or add a soap dispenser and air switch wherever you want them in the deck.
7) Will the PTG-4318 fit a standard 24 inch deep base cabinet without the apron hanging past the doors?
The sink is 18 inches front to back, so the body clears the depth of a standard base cabinet with room behind for the faucet supply and drain. The apron face is meant to project past the cabinet front, so the front rail and any doorstyle in that bay get modified rather than fit around it. Overall dimensions are 33 by 18 by 10-1/8 inches, and the 36 inch base is the controlling number, not the depth.
8) What colors does the Houzer Platus PTG-4318 come in?
Two glazes: Gloss White and Gloss Biscuit. Both are available either as sink only or bundled with the basket strainer and bottom grid, so the color choice does not limit the accessory option.
9) Where is the Houzer Platus fireclay sink made?
Country of origin on the PTG-4318 is listed as Turkey/China. Houzer states its fireclay sinks are produced in its own ISO-certified factories in Turkey.
