Sta-Kon REV267 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon REV267 ring terminal take?
The REV267 is sized for 6 AWG copper conductor. One wire gauge only, so it will crimp loose on anything smaller. If you are terminating 8 or 10 AWG, step down to the Sta-Kon ring terminal rated for that gauge rather than doubling the wire back on itself.
2) What stud or screw size will the REV267 ring fit over?
The ring tongue is a No. 10 stud size, so it drops over a #10 screw or terminal stud. On a larger 1/4-20 stud it will not pass, and on a #8 it will sit loose under the nut with no shoulder bearing on the ring.
3) Is the Sta-Kon REV267 rated for 600 volt circuits?
600 V is the rating on this vinyl insulated ring terminal, which covers standard commercial branch circuit and panel work at 120, 208, 240, 277 and 480 V.
4) Is the REV267 a copper terminal, and can I use it on aluminum wire?
The barrel is copper, so it is a copper-only terminal. Aluminum conductor needs a terminal rated AL/CU for that service; putting aluminum into a copper-only barrel sets up a dissimilar metal connection that loosens and heats over time.
5) Should I use a ring terminal or a fork terminal for a 6 AWG connection to a #10 stud?
Use the ring, like the REV267, anywhere the connection is subject to vibration or where a loose lug would be a safety issue: the closed tongue cannot back off the stud until the nut is fully removed. A fork or spade only makes sense when you need to slide the wire out without pulling the screw, which on a 6 AWG feeder connection is rarely worth the risk.
6) Why is this Sta-Kon ring terminal blue, and does the color mean anything?
The insulation sleeve is blue. On Sta-Kon heavy gauge terminals the sleeve color is a gauge identifier at a glance, and this one is the 6 AWG member of the vinyl insulated ring family. Do not read it as the small-terminal blue used for 16-14 AWG on other brands' color codes; go by the printed 6 AWG size.
7) What part number do I order and where is the Sta-Kon REV267 made?
Order it as Sta-Kon REV267, the manufacturer part number. Production is United States and Mexico, which matters if you are filling a government or institutional order with country of origin reporting.
