Kawneer KW050751 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW050751 used for?
The KW050751 is a genuine Kawneer service part for the International Concealed Overhead Closer, sized for 30 inch light duty hold open door applications. It is a replacement component, not a complete new closer package, so it is ordered to restore hold open operation on an existing compatible Kawneer door system.
2) Does the Kawneer KW050751 closer part include hold open?
Yes. Hold open operation is what this version provides, keeping the door held in the open position as the application requires. If the opening needs a non hold open closer, this is the wrong part number.
3) Will the KW050751 work on a heavy traffic entrance door?
No. It is rated light duty, intended for lower frequency commercial openings. High traffic entrances, main lobby doors, and similar cycle heavy applications need a heavier duty closer rather than this part.
4) Is the KW050751 sized for a 36 inch door?
It is specified for 30 inch door applications. A wider leaf falls outside what this part is sized for, so match the closer part to the actual door width before ordering.
5) Is this a surface mounted closer or does it hide in the frame?
Concealed overhead. The mechanism sits out of sight in the head of the opening rather than on the face of the door, which is why it is used on aluminum storefront and entrance systems where a surface closer would be visible.
6) Is the KW050751 an aftermarket part or an actual Kawneer component?
It is an authentic Kawneer service part, carried under Kawneer Service Parts, so it keeps the original system compatibility on a Kawneer door rather than forcing a mixed hardware repair.
7) Is this closer part suitable for residential use?
It is classified for commercial use. Property managers can absolutely use it in multi tenant residential buildings on the commercial entry and corridor doors, but it is not a residential grade house door closer.
