Kawneer KW130886-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What door width does the Kawneer KW130886-17 concealed closer cover?
It's sized for door leaves up to 42 inches wide. Anything wider than 42 inches is outside what this closer is specified for, so check the actual leaf width before ordering rather than assuming from the frame opening.
2) Is the KW130886-17 a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket closer?
It's a Kawneer service part, built to the same standards as the original equipment component in Kawneer framing and entrance systems. If you're maintaining Kawneer storefront or entrance doors and want the closer to match what came out, this is the factory service item rather than a generic substitute.
3) Is this a complete closer or just a replacement component?
The KW130886-17 is catalogued as a replacement part, supplied as the Kawneer service item for the LCN 2035-H concealed closer application. For a property manager restoring an existing Kawneer opening, that means it's the direct service replacement for the closer already in the door, not a new closer kit for an opening that never had one.
4) Can I use the KW130886-17 on a residential entry door?
No. This is a commercial-rated concealed closer intended for storefront and entrance systems like office building entrances, retail storefronts, school entries, healthcare corridors, and municipal buildings. It mounts concealed in the door or frame of a Kawneer entrance system, not in a typical residential wood door.
5) What finish is the Kawneer KW130886-17 closer?
Clear aluminum, which matches the standard clear anodized finish used across Kawneer entrance framing. If the other doors in the building are dark bronze or black anodized, the exposed portions of this closer will not match those openings.
