1) Will the Keedex K-BXA/R weld-in box accept an Adams Rite 1850 or 4710 narrow stile deadlatch?
That's exactly what the K-BXA/R is built for. It's a weldable lock box sized for Adams Rite 1850s/1851s Series and 4511/4710/4711 Series narrow stile locks at a 1-1/8 inch backset. Weld it into a hollow metal gate or frame and it gives the Adams Rite case a pocket to mortise into where there's no stile to prep.
2) What size opening do I need to cut for a Keedex K-BXA/R weld box?
The box measures 2 1/16 inches W x 8 inches H x 1 13/16 inches D. Cut the gate frame or tube to clear that depth and height, then weld the box in so the faceplate side sits flush with the finished face.
3) Does the Keedex K-BXA/R come in aluminum, or only steel?
Both. The K-BXA/R is 14 gauge steel, and the K-BXA/R-AL is .125 aluminum. Pick the one that matches the gate you're welding to, steel box to a steel tube frame, aluminum box to an aluminum gate, so you're not trying to run a dissimilar-metal weld in the field.

That's the standard approach on exterior gates and it's why the box is sold in weldable steel and aluminum rather than a screw-on housing.
6) Does the Keedex K-BXA/R box work with a mortise lock or a cylindrical lock?
Mortise only. The pocket is cut for a mortise-type narrow stile case (the Adams Rite 1850s/1851s and 4511/4710/4711 families). A cylindrical or bored lockset needs a cross-bore through a flat face and won't go into this box.
7) Is the Keedex K-BXA/R heavy enough for a commercial gate that gets constant use?
