Larsens Architectural Series 24095- 5LB Capacity - Fire Rated - Stainless Steel Door

These Architectural Series Cabinets feature a nominal inside box dimension of 24 inches (60.9 cm) height, 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) width and 5 inches (12.7 cm) depth.

BOX SPECIFICATION: All recessed and semi-recessed cabinets and surface-mounted steel cabinets have a heavy gauge, white baked enamel box. Surface-mounted cabinets with aluminum door and trim have a box constructed entirely of clear or color anodized aluminum. Surface-mounted cabinets with stainless steel door and trim have a box constructed entirely of 304 stainless steel with #4 finish.

TRIM AND DOOR SPECIFICATION: Steel trims and doors are one piece, constructed of cold-rolled steel with a standard finish of white baked acrylic enamel, which can be used as either a finish or prime coat. Aluminum trims are constructed of extruded or fabricated aluminum and all corners are mitered. Aluminum is the recommended material for applications in salt air and other corrosion prone environments. Clear satin anodized finish is standard for all trims and doors, and optional color anodized finishes are available. To specify aluminum trim and door, use the prefix “AL” before the cabinet model number. Stainless steel trims and doors are one piece, constructed of #4 finish, 304 stainless steel. To specify stainless steel trim and door, use the prefix “SS” before the cabinet model number. All steel and stainless steel doors have a tubular, hollow-metal design. Samples of door and trim materials are pictured.

ALL OF THESE DOOR STYLES ARE AVAILABLE WITH EXCLUSIVE LARSEN-LOC® OPTION. The Larsen-Loc® provides access to a locked cabinet, without requiring the breaking of glass. During an emergency, it permits the cabinet door to be opened simply by pulling sharply on the handle. Factory applied decal reads: “IN CASE OF FIRE ONLY – PULL FIRMLY ON HANDLE”. By specifying the Larsen-Loc®, access to a locked cabinet is totally independent of the desired door style and glazing. All door styles can be combined with the Larsen-Loc®, including a solid metal door. The standard Larsen-Loc® on a Solid Door would be appropriate for gymnasiums or any locations where emergency access is required but where any kind of glazing or glazing opening may not be suitable. The Solid Door with Larsen-Loc® also can be specified as an Institutional Door (emergency access only with a key) by deleting the pull handle and decal

  • Inside box depth is 43 ⁄4" when supplied with aluminum door and trim. The AL2409-5R and AL2409-R7 have 11 ⁄4" square trims.
  • Trimless cabinets must be installed before drywall because their plaster stops must be behind the drywall. Trimless are not recommended for block wall installation.
  • Deduct 3 ⁄4" from H x W dimensions for cabinets with aluminum door and trim. This does not apply to “FS” fire-rated option.
  • To comply with ADA wall projection guidelines, this cabinet must be mounted with its leading edge at or below 27" from the finished floor

Die-cut letters are state-of-the-art for precise and attractive cabinet identification and have replaced silk screen letters as the industry standard. They are available in standard colors of red, black, or white and the standard designs of vertical, horizontal, or type A. A selection of the more popular styles is pictured below. Custom lettering, special colors, and pictorial graphics also are available, if specified.

VIGILANTE ALARM

Larsen’s exclusive Vigilante Alarm provides additional protection for a cabinet’s life safety contents. The Vigilante can reduce theft losses, help to prolong extinguisher life, and safeguard fire department valves, fire hose, and other equipment. It is constructed of high impact plastic, is plunger activated and includes a heavy-duty 9 volt battery as standard equipment. The on/off jack provides for convenient servicing of the cabinet’s contents by authorized personnel.

Larsens FSSS24095RFG – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How high do I mount a Larsens 24095 so it stays ADA compliant?
Mount it with the leading edge of the cabinet at or below 27 inches from the finished floor. That is the wall-projection rule the 24095 is built around, and the cabinet is listed as ADA compliant on that basis. Above 27 inches, a projecting cabinet becomes a protruding-object problem for a cane user regardless of how the box itself is built.
2) Can I lock a Larsens 24095 fire extinguisher cabinet and still let people get to the extinguisher?
Yes, and there are two separate decisions. The cabinet is ordered with or without a lock. If you lock it, the Larsen-Loc option gives emergency access without breaking glass, the door opens on a sharp pull of the handle, and it comes with a factory decal reading IN CASE OF FIRE ONLY, PULL FIRMLY ON HANDLE. The Larsen-Loc works with any of the door styles, glazed or solid, so locking the cabinet does not force you into a particular door.
3) What do I have to specify when ordering a Larsens 24095 besides the model number?
Four choices are required on every 24095 order: door style (full glass, horizontal duo, vertical duo, or solid), handle style (recessed or not recessed), lock or no lock, and wall depth (3-1/4, 4-3/4, or 6-1/8 inches). Door glazing is also called out, with standard acrylic included. Optional adds include die-cut lettering in red, black or white in vertical, horizontal, Type A, or the international extinguisher symbol, plus the Vigilante alarm in standard or surface-mounted form.
4) Which door style should I pick for a Larsens 24095 in a school gym or another high-abuse area?
Four door styles are offered: full glass, horizontal duo, vertical duo, and solid. For a gym, corridor, or anywhere a ball or a cart can hit the wall, the solid door removes the glazing entirely. Pair the solid door with the Larsen-Loc, which lets someone open a locked cabinet by pulling sharply on the handle, so you keep emergency access without any breakable panel. Delete the pull handle and decal and the same solid door becomes an institutional door, key access only.
5) What glazing options come on the Larsens 24095 door, and which one do I need for a school or healthcare corridor?
Standard acrylic is included on the glazed door styles, with tempered glass and laminated safety glass as upgrades. In a school, healthcare, or public corridor where a broken panel is a liability, laminated safety glass holds together when struck; tempered breaks into small pieces instead of shards. If you would rather have no glazing at all in those spaces, order the solid door.
6) Is the whole Larsens 24095 cabinet stainless, or just the door?
With stainless steel specified, the door and trim are one piece of #4 finish 304 stainless. On a recessed or semi-recessed cabinet the box behind the wall is heavy gauge steel with a white baked enamel finish, since it is not exposed. Only the surface-mounted stainless cabinets have a box built entirely of 304 stainless. So for a recessed 24095, the stainless you see and clean is the door and trim.
7) How do I stop people walking off with the extinguishers out of my cabinets?
Larsens offers the Vigilante alarm as an option on the 24095, in standard or surface-mounted form. It is plunger activated, built of high impact plastic, and ships with a heavy-duty 9 volt battery. The on/off jack lets authorized staff service the extinguisher without setting it off. Combine it with the lock option and the Larsen-Loc, and the cabinet stays locked to casual access while still opening on a hard pull in an emergency.
8) Do I need a recessed handle on a fire extinguisher cabinet in a corridor?
The 24095 handle is ordered either recessed or not recessed. A recessed handle sits flush and adds nothing to the wall projection, which matters in tight corridors and in ADA egress paths where the cabinet already has to be mounted with its leading edge at or below 27 inches from the finished floor. A non-recessed pull handle is easier to grab in a hurry and is what the Larsen-Loc emergency-pull decal points at.
9) Can I get FIRE EXTINGUISHER lettering on the cabinet door instead of hanging a separate sign?
Die-cut letters are applied to the 24095 door in red, black, or white, in vertical, horizontal, or Type A layouts, and there is an international extinguisher symbol option. Die-cut has replaced silk screen as the industry standard for cabinet identification. Custom lettering, special colors, and pictorial graphics are available if specified. Separate projecting signs are also offered if your facility needs identification visible down the corridor rather than only from the front.
