Box and Door Construction

Heavy-gauge steel box with white baked enamel finish. Steel trims and doors are one-piece cold-rolled steel with white baked acrylic enamel finish, usable as a finish coat or prime coat. All steel doors use tubular hollow-metal construction.

Larsen-Loc® Option

Available on all door styles. The Larsen-Loc® allows emergency access to a locked cabinet without breaking glass - simply pull sharply on the handle. Factory-applied decal reads: "IN CASE OF FIRE ONLY - PULL FIRMLY ON HANDLE." Compatible with every door style including Solid Door. The Solid Door with Larsen-Loc® can also be configured as an Institutional Door (key-only access) by omitting the pull handle and decal.

Vigilante Alarm Option

Larsen's exclusive Vigilante Alarm protects cabinet contents against theft and tampering. Plunger-activated, constructed of high-impact plastic, includes a 9V battery. An on/off jack allows authorized personnel to service cabinet contents without triggering the alarm.

Identification and Decal Options

1) What wall depth do I order a Larsens 2409R fire extinguisher cabinet in?
Match the depth to the wall you are opening up. Recessed and semi-recessed 2409R cabinets are built in 2 inch, 2-1/2 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch, 5 inch, 6-1/4 inch and 6-1/2 inch wall depths, and the depth is selected when you order. The full 6 inch box needs a cavity that can take it, so on a shallow partition you drop to the 2 inch or 2-1/2 inch depth and the balance of the cabinet stands proud of the finished wall as a semi-recessed install. If the wall cannot be cut at all, there is a surface mounted version instead.
2) Is the Larsens 2409R fire extinguisher cabinet ADA compliant, and does it depend on the mounting height?
ADA compliant, but the mounting height is part of the compliance, not a separate detail. Larsens calls the 2409R ADA compliant when it is installed with the leading edge at or below 27 inches from finished floor, which is what keeps it within wall projection guidelines. Set it higher than 27 inches and you have given up the compliance the cabinet was specified for. This matters most on the surface mounted and shallow semi-recessed configurations, where more of the box is standing out into the corridor.
