1) What does reverse polarity mean on a Milbank UQFP-RP breaker, and when do I need it?
Reverse polarity means the breaker is built to be fed from the lug end and connect out through the plug-in bus, the opposite of a standard plug-in breaker. Milbank calls it out as a special feature on the UQFP-RP and lists the connection as bus to lug. It's intended for metering accessory applications, where the utility feed lands on the lugs and the bus carries the load side. If your meter socket or panel is wired conventionally, order a standard-polarity breaker instead, not this one.
2) Is 10,000 AIC enough for my service, or do I need a higher interrupting rating?
The UQFP-RP is rated 10,000 ampere interrupting capacity. That covers most residential and light commercial 240V single-phase services where the utility available fault current at the equipment is at or below 10 kA. 3) Will this Milbank breaker work on a 208Y/120 three-phase system?
No. The UQFP-RP is a 2-pole device rated 240 volts AC, single phase, 60 Hz. It can be applied across two legs of a single-phase 240V system only. For three-phase distribution you need a 3-pole breaker rated for that system.
4) How much space does the UQFP-RP take up in the enclosure?
It's an F-Frame breaker measuring 3.281 inches by 3 inches. Lay that against the mounting area in your meter socket or pedestal before ordering, and remember the lever actuator needs clearance to throw plus room for the lug-side conductors.
5) Can I use this breaker in an outdoor meter pedestal in a hot climate?
